Hey, Vividcon 2015 attendees and other Chicagoland people reading this!

I was recently lamenting to [personal profile] heresluck that I had missed seeing the revival of Pippin on Broadway, which really bummed me out as that was The Musical of my childhood, and the new staging looked like the best kind of spectacle. But then! But then! But gentleman and then! (Sorry, couldn't resist.) I went looking on Youtube for clips, and stumbled across the news that they were (and by now, are) taking the show on tour, and funny enough, the Chicago leg goes from July 29 to August 9, which overlaps VVC. SQUEEEEE!!!!

So I was wondering, does anybody want to go see it with me? I'm thinking a 7:30 PM showing on Wednesday (August 5), Thursday (August 6), or Sunday (August 9) would fit in pretty smoothly with the con events. There are all ranges of ticket prices, plus I'll have a car for transport.

If you're interested, please let me know. I'd like to get tickets ASAP, before they all sell out. If that isn't anyone's cuppa, no biggie - I can swing up there and indulge myself.

August is going to be so stuffed full of fun, September is going to be even flatter than usual. :)

I may be a little bit excited to be so close to done with this week. :)

First and foremost, it means the end of this OMGWTFBBQ GoTo shift. ARGH ARGH ARGH )

With all the stress of the past couple months, I had to give up on my vague intention to make an entry for Club Vivid. I still have an eye on an idea for a Premiere, so I need to kick my ass into gear and get going on that.

As a last minute reward for surviving this week, I bought a Saturday ticket for C2E2 and a photo op with Ming-Na Wen and Hayley Atwell! \o/ Fangirl flailing )

Wish me luck, and have a lovely weekend, all!

The stress levels are similar, but I have maintained the "no crying" rule at work, through complete lack of documentation, crappy conference calls, debugging other peoples' bad code, and general all-around pressure, where a lack of planning on their part is constituting an emergency on mine. Which is like my favorite thing ever!

Plus the Emperor slapped a friend at recess yesterday, and then compounded the issues by pretend hitting today. Forecast calls for an in-school suspension.

I am keeping my eyes on the prize, which is the weekend/end of my goto shift, and the potential to see Hayley Atwell, Jason Momoa, a bunch of "Orphan Black" actors, and lots more interesting people at C2E2. It's a bit of a drive for a one-day thing, especially if I wind up doing it solo, but I think it would be worth it.

Hi! How are you doing?
grammarwoman: (Default)
It's been almost two weeks since my massive con weekend - can I still remember what happened? Let's see...

Here I go again... )

To be continued with Saturday, someday...
grammarwoman: (Default)
It should stop surprising me at some point that it takes me a while to recover from a con weekend, though this past week has been a lot more of a physical slog and almost no mental rebound. In previous years, I would be so socially burned out (me, an introvert? oh, yeah) that I'd have a hard time talking to anyone on LJ or DW for days or weeks. This go-around, I've just been tired all the damned time. To be fair, I'm not adjusting well to the new household schedule, which involves getting the Emperor to school an hour earlier than last year. *yawn* It seems on the surface so easy to adjust my bedtime, but that involves retraining my brain to recognize that 10:30 PM is no longer "I've still got time" but "get to bed, geesh!"

Which means that my usual weekend night owl tendencies may slip away as well - being this exhausted at this hour on a Saturday just seems wrong. However, the discovery in my fridge of the last bit of homemade chocolate frosting, combined with raspberries from my garden, have made that realization a little bit easier to swallow. :)

I did have a great time this morning wandering around a huge annual garage sale with a friend of mine. A local YMCA collects items left behind when the university students depart for the summer and combines them with other donations for a Dump and Run sale. I got some crutches (if no one in the family ever has to use crutches again as ironic retribution, it will be money very well spent), a corkscrew for next year's traveling wine, a bunch of books, and a few other various and sundry pieces.

Tomorrow, though, I must buckle down. The house is starting to approach cartoonish levels of cluttered/dirty. This Will Not Do. I think listening some episodes of Night Vale might help me with the chores.

I hope you all are having a lovely weekend. Remember to stay out of the Night Vale Dog Park!

Part the First - Thursday

(Having typed this out - um, evidently I'm in a really wordy mood. Sorry! I think splitting this into parts is probably a good idea.)

WOW. I had no right or expectation for this past weekend to work out as well as it did, but it did, and it was AMAZING.

My advice for anyone else pondering attending two cons at once: DON'T. Unless you get the amazing confluence of events that I had: they're less than two miles apart (crucial); you have a car (very necessary for even small distances on hot summer days); you have both schedules in hand in advance so you can map out a strategy (barely, as Creation waited until practically the last minute, whereas the Vividcon one was posted months ahead of time, and for that, I thank them); you have friends on both sides who don't mind if you sidle up next to them in line, allowing you to bypass some waiting (please forgive me); you have dedicated seating and/or the con is small enough to not need it; you can prioritize what you want to see, heave a heavy sigh for what you'll have to skip, and best of all, the Can't-Miss Events on both sides don't conflict with each other but instead dovetail beautifully. I cannot emphasize enough how lucky I was that everything I really wanted to do on either side came together perfectly. I could not have asked for a better schedule to accommodate both.

Thursday. At great length. )

Timing is everything.

Thanks to my coworker's competence, our assignment queue is empty, which means I've spent the last couple of days catching up on email and posts and such. My garden has been busy as well in my absence; I've already picked a pint of raspberries and a quart of tomatoes in the past couple of days. (Next year, garden, let's produce the bumper crop BEFORE I go on the road, so I can bring the tasty bounty with me.)

I've also been pondering, as seems to be usual post-Vividcon, which vid I want to tackle next. Well, after I remaster my Club Vivid Veronica Mars entry (the timing was just off enough in a couple of parts that I wanted to tweak it) and post it. And probably after I finally get around to redoing my Avengers vid with gorgeous, updated source. Driving home listening to "STAY AWAKE OMG" music led to some other ideas, a few songs of which I may toss out on the waters.

I am much relieved that school seems to be going tolerably well for the Emperor. He is cranky and resistant to change, just like me; I need to drop an email to the teacher about getting him into good habits pronto, before he comes up with excuses for everything going wrong being not his fault. But he hasn't been sent to the office, or otherwise been written up for bad behavior, and we've been on time every day for the earlier schedule with him in a clean school uniform, so I'm going to count it as a win.

My goal is to keep up with the recent fannish hive mind resolution to Post More, Dammit! I figure even a few lines a day is better than the resounding silence that is my default.

Right now I'm waiting for the ibuprofen to kick in, as my period kindly decided to wait until after I got back from traveling, and is already ramping up to be an ARGH.

Tomorrow, if work continues to be light, I'd like to pull together a con post. I've been enjoying reading so many others from you talented and wonderful people; thanks for reminding me what my overstuffed brain forgot! :)

C'mon, Sony Vegas - let's finish rendering this beast so I can get to bed.

Hey, everyone! I had a fabulous weekend attending both Vividcon and the Creation Stargate con, and I hope to post something about it later. Right now I'm experiencing an out-of-brain error from an overfull couple of days, a late night drive home last night (got in about 12:30, safe and sound), an early morning getting the Emperor off to school (went off without a hitch), and then doing pretty much nothing today but hugging my husband, reassuring my dog that I didn't leave her out of spite, and going back to bed.

For those of you who are discovering a recent subscription or friending by me - um, hi? Please forgive the lack of comment. I'm (mostly) harmless. :)
grammarwoman: (Default)
Eep! My long-anticipated con weekend is here, where I'm going to attempt quality face time at both the Chicago Creation Con and Vividcon. I couldn't give up either, so both it is. :) Looking at the panel lineup at VVC, though, I am beyond torn. So much good squishy there! I will have to play catch-up later.

I'll be staying at the Vividcon hotel (free continental breakfast!), so the onus is on me to find my Stargate peeps at the Creation con. I haven't seen you guys in a WHOLE YEAR (*sniffles*) so PLEASE let me know if you're attending, either here or in email, and when I might be able to see you. I will be in the area from Thursday afternoon to Sunday night (I wish I could stay over until Monday morning, but the Emperor's first day at his new school takes precedence.)

Here's my plan: I have a gold ticket for Creation, in seat D3 (it's way over to the side, alas, but at least that means closer to the front for lining up). I wish I knew what Creation's schedule was, but for now, I plan on my butt being in that seat for Kate Hewlett, David Hewlett, and Ben Browder on Saturday, and Amanda Tapping on Sunday. So, if I can get registered on Thursday or Friday morning and meet up with people, that seat is available for someone else to use all of Friday and any open slots on Saturday and Sunday. This means that I'll also be missing the Dessert party on Saturday night, so someone can snag my badge for that as well.

Currently, Amanda Tapping, Ben Browder, Joe Flanigan, Christopher Judge, Torri Higginson, David Hewlett, and Kavan Smith are on the included autograph list for my ticket. Of those, I only really want Tapping, Browder, and Hewlett. I'd love to set up either a swap or just gift those other autographs so they're not wasted. (And if anyone isn't planning on using their option for one or more of those three, I'll take it off your hands. :D )

I am still debating about photographs, but I might just have to let those go in order to attend more panels at VVC. (Why is there still no cloning or teleportation technology available? I have NEEDS!) I expended all my vid energy this year in making my first submission to Vividcon's Club Vivid party (WOO!), so there's no Stargate vid entry for me. Maybe this year I'll catch them playing one of my old ones, heh.

I am so excited to see everyone at both cons; it's been a long dry spell for intense fangirl time for me, and I miss you all. I hope to see you there!
grammarwoman: (Default)
Quite the opposite, really. Though I am dead tired, with sore boobs and EMOTIONS (ALL THE EMOTIONS). Luckily, the hungry/queasies are subsiding into mainly hungry.

So, yeah, um...In short, have a picture from yesterday: )

The pregnancy test was positive right before Christmas, but with all the ups and downs we went through in the last round of IVF and the miscarriage, I was not about to let myself feel anything other than "cautiously optimistic". Three ultrasounds later, two of them with a very healthy heartbeat, and a glowing report from the nurse, I think I may be ready to upgrade to "happily pregnant". We still have to get through testing, though (I'm on the older side for a pregnancy, seeing as I'm turning 40 in a couple of months), so I'm not going on any shopping sprees or announcing it on FB yet.

Being OMG tired all the time hasn't helped with the emotional hormone wallop, so I apologize if lately I've been even more of a drama llama than usual at people. Festivids has been weirdly tough for me - I tried really hard with my entry, but I'm disappointed in myself with how it turned out and how few responses there have been. At least my recipient liked it, so I know I should count myself good with that.

I'm also in a weird dilemma, as the dates were just announced for Vividcon. It's going on the same weekend as the Chicago Stargate Creation con, for which I've already bought a ticket. (Amanda Tapping! Ben Browder! David Hewlett! Kate Hewlett! It's like they handpicked all my favorites just for me!) So I may attempt the impossible and pull a Peter Brady, trying to attend both. Considering I'll be 8 months pregnant at that point, who knows how that will go. I want to see all my Stargate friends (Hewlett Harem represent!), but I'm also now addicted to the Vividcon crowd, and I don't want to give up either of you. Especially since this will most likely be my last opportunity to attend cons for a year or two.

First world fangirl problems, I know. I could come down with a bad case of bed rest at that point, in which case I'll have a row D Stargate ticket for sale.

Thank you all for being so supportive on this wild ride of mine. Some people get a new car or take up exciting new hobbies when their midlife crises hit. Me, I'm gonna have a baby. :D

I swear August was here just a minute ago. I turned around and POOF! it was all gone.

This past weekend was the first time I was home for the majority of a Saturday since the beginning of the month, which kinda freaked me out. Vividcon, Chicago SG con, visiting a friend - I was so worn out from having fun that I hardly felt a twinge of envy at missing Dragon*Con/WorldCon/Pax/whatever else. The cons in August need to spread the fuck out already.

Last week I was in a Visual Studio 2010 training class about an hour away, which meant that I had zero surfing time during the day and was out of brains at night. I am far, far behind in everything, so my apologies if your weeks-old posts suddenly sprout a comment from me.

I am FINALLY moving over to a web support role at work, which would be going much more smoothly if the IT guys could figure out how to fix my access to the web code. *sigh* The lack of ability to do anything means I have a lot of catchup time, though.

The Emperor moaned and groaned about returning to school after the three-day weekend. He claimed that he'd rather be going back to prison. I had to clamp down on the urge to tell him that that could be arranged. At least he still had a great day, behavior-wise.

How have you all been?
grammarwoman: (Default)
So if last year's unofficial theme was Vividcry, this was definitely Vividfeels. ALL THE FEELS. (Neville! Avengers! Once Upon a Time! Doctor Who! And tons more.)

I got to meet so many people for the first time (I'd name names, but I'm afraid I'd miss somebody!), and nod'n'smile at a bunch. Attending for the second time, I was relieved to not feel like a n00b all over the place. Many, many thanks to my roomies for squeezing me in at the last minute - sorry I didn't get a chance to say goodbye! You were excellent temporary companions.

My apologies to those that I incoherently babbled at for loving their vids. It was like reliving that Chris Farley bit from SNL over and over: "You know that vid you made? ...That was really cool." *sigh* I hope I wasn't too obnoxious.

I would love to see you all next year, including those who couldn't make it the past two years. (I feel like my TV show killing curse is spilling over into real life!)

In sorta related news, another month's hopes were dashed today when my period arrived. This means that the IVF machine is grinding back into production. Unfortunately, it looks like my timing is all wrong to try in September, and the October cycle would fall during the Emperor's birthday week, so that's a no go. So the best case scenario is catching at the end of November, which if I can count correctly, means showing up next year eight months pregnant. If I can do it for Joss Whedon, I can totally do it for Vividcon.

Saturday is a quickie day trip back up for the Chicago Creation con. I am looking forward to seeing Torri Higginson for the first time and getting stuff signed, and using up the ends of my gift certificates from vid wins. Of course, I can't wait to hang out with my fangirl peeps, too.

And now, off to shower and bed, before it's utterly stupid late.

Title: Man Smart, Woman Smarter

Rodney McKay may be a genius, but his sister Jeannie Miller can solve his problems - with fingerpaints.

Notes: "McKay and Mrs. Miller" was one of my favorite episodes of Season 3 - hell, favorite episodes ever! - because it was the first time we got to meet Jeannie Miller, aka David Hewlett's real-life sister Kate Hewlett. Snarky, smart, completely used to puncturing her brother's oversized ego...what's not to love? When I met the actors at Shore Leave in 2008, it was immediately apparent that that was their relationship in real life as well.

When Creation announced that David and Kate would both be at the last Vancouver con, I knew I wanted to go, and that I wanted to show Kate some appreciation for her role in SGA. So here's the result! (More notes below.)

More Notes: How to win contests and infuriate people )

So, long story short: I'm four for four for winning (wow, that's a stutter!) the Creation vid contest, and Creation is similarly four for four for screwing it up. Go team go!
grammarwoman: (Default)
The Vancouver con was fun! It wasn't the concentrated giddiness of the Minneapolis con, but neither was it the introverted loneliness of pre-fangirl, Hewlett Harem, con attendance.

Highlights:

So many good things! )

However, getting there (and back) was decidedly NOT half the fun. So many bad things )

One of these days, I will attend a con, and there will be NO DRAMA. At least the Emperor and the dog got fed in my absence, and school was attended. They both missed me a lot, which warmed my heart.

I am still gobsmackingly tired. It did not help when I stepped into an online discussion today, trying to point out the insulting nature of "a little bit pregnant" and how pregnancy is not a binary condition, to counteract a whole lot of mansplaining. I thought I was done with crying at work. *sigh*

Next up: my vid!
grammarwoman: (Default)
Wheeee, I'm going to Vancouver! The problem with being unable to commit until the last minute, though, means that now I have to race around getting all the details locked down. Having the teller at my bank fuck up a certified check has not helped my calm at all.

I interviewed with my boss today about joining the web design and support division that is being moved to our location from the main office. It seems big and scary, which means my complacent, slacker self should totally do it in the name of self-improvement and job training. The meeting, plus a desultory poke at my current project that should have been wrapped up weeks ago, has constituted all the actual work I've done today. Oops.

All Hail the Emperor! Oh, bless my little man for finding new and exciting ways to be awesome while I've been wallowing. He's met his goals at school for three weeks in a row, so his social skills teacher is allowing him to self-monitor. I'm not quite sure of the details, but I think it means he signs his own sheet at the end of the day. He is so proud of himself, I could just burst. He was amazing, too, at his IEP meeting a couple of weeks ago; he gave the introduction of his goals, challenges, and accomplishments, and was so smooth about it. I wish I'd taped it.

Plus, I finally went looking and discovered that "Avatar: the Last Airbender" is on Netflix. I sneakily put it on this past weekend while he was playing on his DS. He was hooked almost instantly. We're almost at the end of season 2 now, with the constant refrain of "Mom, put on Avatar please!". Thank God - if I had to endure any more "Pokemon" or "Johnny Test", even as background noise, I think I might have gouged out my ears. I wish I had tuned in earlier! I suppose now is a great time to play catch-up, so we can launch right into "Korra" when we're done. \o/

Tomorrow at this time I will be heading for the airport, on my way to Seattle. With all the packing, planning, and preparation I have left to do, sleeping tonight may be optional.
grammarwoman: (Default)
I would usually celebrate by taking the day off work, but I'm already burning through my vacation days with the Vancouver trip. Instead, I bought my general admission and Dog's Breakfast tickets for the con, plus I finally got the confirmation letter that they received my vid entry. \o/ There's still the niggling detail, though, where I'll be staying. Anyone have space for me in their hotel room? Please?

In other linky news:

[livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe posted a delightful, sensual, and porny Veronica Mars fic for me, because she is awesome both at remembering and basically as a person. *GRIN* It's definitely tipping me towards working on a VM vid for Club Vivid.

I can't tell if the creators of this Can I Get a Hell Yeah! T-shirt are Farscape fans, or if it's just that common a saying. I'd totally get it, if I thought the Emperor would refrain from yelling that every time I wore it.

Cate Blanchett is beautiful, full-stop. But it's so refreshing to see a gorgeous woman who has bags under her eyes. We age and we get tired. No amount of expensive creams and lotions are going to fix that. (Note to self: you should still get more sleep.)

The Scale of the Universe 2 is a nifty toy to zoom in and out of. Start at the smallest point of the scale and pretend you're on a massive Katamari roll!

I am having a mellow birthday; it's been really nice. I've gotten a bunch of greetings on Facebook, been useful several times at work, the Emperor called me from school on his teacher's phone to let me know he had an awesome day, and I may even indulge in some greasy carry-out for dinner. But really, I'm pushing forward to the end of the day tomorrow, when I'll be past my annual review (*fingers crossed* for a raise) and some other news.

Have a great Wednesday, all!
grammarwoman: (Default)
I'm going to the Stargate con in Vancouver to see the Hewletts and my fangirl peeps, WAHOOOOOOO!!!! And some other stars too, I suppose. ;)

I've been obsessing over it so hard, you don't even know. (Except maybe a couple of you, like [livejournal.com profile] mercury973, who's gotten about 50 emails from me - sorry!)

The sticking point has been the airfare. I live within driving distance of a bunch of airports, but what with gas prices rising faster than Atlantis from the sea bottom plus post-con fatigue, I didn't want to drive more than an hour or so.

But today, oh frabjous day, I scored a flight for almost $100 cheaper than I've been seeing, with reasonable departure times. (The flights will be looooong, but that's what portable electronics are for, right?)

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Now I have to get cracking on a vid. I have no idea why Creation needs 40 days to review submitted entries, other than their general policy to screw with people.

Who's going? Who has tickets for what? Who knows the best places to stalk for cheap gold tickets? Oh, and who still has space in their hotel room? I swear I'm an excellent roommate. *grin*

The two-month countdown begins!
grammarwoman: (Default)
The end of day camp, two cons, and the start of school all done - I may yet survive August. Whew!

Two weekends ago was Vividcon. It blew me away. I was expecting the intense happiness of getting to meet friends finally in person, and talking nonstop of fannish things, but the friendliness and inclusiveness bowled me over. Almost everyone was welcoming and happy to hang out with a complete n00b like me, even the vidding BNFs. And such a world of fandoms! I got to gush about "Grease 2" and SGA and BSG, all in the space of a few minutes. Club Vivid was so much amazeballs fun that I wish it were a monthly event. And the vids! OMG the vids. Someday I aspire to make something half as good as what was shown. I am so going back next year if I can. And next year, I'm not leaving at 11 PM on Sunday to drive home. I was so wrecked the next day at work.

Then this past weekend was the Chicago Creation con, and boy, did they con me out of a lot of money, heh. More and more, I wish for chances just to squee with my fellow fans who have become friends, and not be rushed from celeb event to event. But I can't complain too much about getting to see Ben Browder and David Hewlett that many times.

Lessee, first there was Ben at the breakfast on Saturday, then his panel, photo op, and signing. (Many blessings and thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mercury973 and [livejournal.com profile] gyri for giving me their Ben autographs. I still think you guys are kinda nutty, but it certainly benefited me!)

On Sunday, while waiting for David Hewlett's meet and greet with [livejournal.com profile] ailurophile6, we got to see him come in with his luggage, head back upstairs, then return with coffee and breakfast. The meet and greet itself was the usual outstanding fun. I got to ask him about the uncanny similarities of Paul McGillion's new project with David's ongoing Starcrossed plans. He hemmed and hawed, then stated that at first he "didn't love" how close they seemed, but explained that Paul's thing will be focused on the actor's life and his friends, where Starcrossed would be more of a behind-the-scenes of a sci-fi show. Not only is David Hewlett awesome, he's classy, too.

Then there were autographs (David was very nice and scribbled a Mars pawprint on my "A Dog's Breakfast" DVD booklet, since I had everyone else's signature) first thing for everyone but the day passes, so Joe wouldn't be signing things on his way out the door and David wouldn't be there until 11 PM.

Finally we were treated to the David-and-Joe panel of TOTAL RIDICULOUS ENTERTAINMENT. I swear to God, Creation could make a mint if they just taped their damned panel and sold it already. The panel was supposed to be equal parts David, David & Joe, and Joe, but Joe literally would not let David leave the stage. Why does Creation even bother? They should just let the two be together the whole time. (Wait, there I go trying to apply logic to their motivations again.) I would recap it, but [livejournal.com profile] crysothemis did such an amazing job here, you should just go read hers. I love those guys so hard.

Oh! And on Saturday, right before Paul's panel, Creation announced that my vid won! Yay! But then they said it was a Carson-focused vid, which I had to politely refute and explain that it was a team vid. Then Gary defensively asked, "He's in it, though, right?" Technically, yes, for all of two brief seconds. But I had my shiny certificate and voucher, so I was happy. Then we waited and waited and WAITED for it play, and BOO. It had to be skipped due to technical difficulties. Once again, I couldn't win for winning. They played it later after the costume contest, when there was almost no one in the room. *sigh* It did look very pretty on the big screen.

However, I left so late on Sunday I didn't get home until almost 3 AM, and it's taken all week to get my brain back from zombie land. I think there may be suspicious chunks still missing.

My pictures! I have to share my pictures with you, because they make me so giddy.

Me and Ben Browder (I will never tire of hugging that man):

My happiness, let me show you )

Me and David (who continues to indulge me with goofy poses. I simply asked him to choose his weapon, and he went to this):

Are you ready for this? )

I LOVE DAVID HEWLETT, AND I DON'T CARE WHO KNOWS.

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] nakedwesley for being a lovely roommate, and all the rest of you guys for making it so much fun to be a fangirl. I can't wait to see you all next time.
grammarwoman: (Default)
The Emperor's glasses were lost last Friday at day camp and recovered Monday. I'm glad we had the spare pair to tide us over, and even gladder that the new ones were found. It would have run us at least $350 to replace them. *phew*

We're losing "Chuck", which makes me sad, but I can understand it - they've had a good run, they weren't canceled in the middle of a storyline, and I still love what they're doing. But honestly, I'm fonder of the show than anything more passionate at this point, and there doesn't seem to be much more for them to cover.

However, I am seething FURIOUS at SyFy for canceling "Eureka". It's all my fault, again, some more, because the Fates heard me exclaim out loud how much I love this show, and sought to punish my hubris. I loved what Wil Wheaton posted on his blog, and further on his G+: "ICYMI, here's Amy Berg on Eureka's cancellation: "Everyone is asking why. It's simple, really. We are the network's golden child in every way, except profit margins. Fact is, Eureka is an expensive show to make. And we could not maintain the quality of our show with the cuts it would take to make us profitable for Syfy's new parent company. Our creative execs at Syfy fought hard to keep us. Trust me, they LOVE us. We just couldn't make the numbers work."" Also this cartoon, because really, SyFy, when you let your cast find out about a cancellation from a new release and don't tell them yourself, it's a totally jerkwad move. Not that I'd expect anything else from them. Throw another goddamned wrestling show or Ghosthunters clone on the barbie and pony up for what keeps actual Sci-Fi fans coming back for more.

But enough whining - tomorrow I'm off to Vividcon, and the anticipation is making me giddy. I'll get to meet so many people that have just been names on my screen until now. Woo-hoo!
grammarwoman: A lovely redhead uses her laptop to vid. (Vidding)
In preparation for making a vid for the upcoming Chicago Creation con, I re-ripped all of my SGA DVDs (stupid external HD literally crashed, from the table to the tile floor, thanks to the Emperor) at a leisurely pace. Then I looked at the due date and had a panic attack.

The result is, I've spent the last week immersed in vidding and finally came up for air today. I haven't kept up with anything or anyone, I'm low on sleep, and I feel a little out of touch with the world, but my first draft is done!

Anyone want to beta a goofy SGA vid? It's two minutes long, so it's not a huge commitment of time.

Thanks!
