What a difference a week makes

It should stop surprising me at some point that it takes me a while to recover from a con weekend, though this past week has been a lot more of a physical slog and almost no mental rebound. In previous years, I would be so socially burned out (me, an introvert? oh, yeah) that I'd have a hard time talking to anyone on LJ or DW for days or weeks. This go-around, I've just been tired all the damned time. To be fair, I'm not adjusting well to the new household schedule, which involves getting the Emperor to school an hour earlier than last year. *yawn* It seems on the surface so easy to adjust my bedtime, but that involves retraining my brain to recognize that 10:30 PM is no longer "I've still got time" but "get to bed, geesh!"
Which means that my usual weekend night owl tendencies may slip away as well - being this exhausted at this hour on a Saturday just seems wrong. However, the discovery in my fridge of the last bit of homemade chocolate frosting, combined with raspberries from my garden, have made that realization a little bit easier to swallow. :)
I did have a great time this morning wandering around a huge annual garage sale with a friend of mine. A local YMCA collects items left behind when the university students depart for the summer and combines them with other donations for a Dump and Run sale. I got some crutches (if no one in the family ever has to use crutches again as ironic retribution, it will be money very well spent), a corkscrew for next year's traveling wine, a bunch of books, and a few other various and sundry pieces.
Tomorrow, though, I must buckle down. The house is starting to approach cartoonish levels of cluttered/dirty. This Will Not Do. I think listening some episodes of Night Vale might help me with the chores.
I hope you all are having a lovely weekend. Remember to stay out of the Night Vale Dog Park!
