Welcome to my fanworks!

If you'd like to transform any of these into your own creative work, whether that be a remix, podfic, art, vid, or whatever, please feel free!  Just drop me a note somewhere; I'd love to see the results.

Note:  I tend to bump up ratings when in doubt, so my NC-17 may be your R or even PG-13.  As always, YMMV.

1. It's Friday! This week is almost over! And the kid only has three days next week and is then on spring break, which lets me sleep in an extra hour. Woo-hoo!

2. A spoonful of store-bought harissa stirred into canned tomato soup is quite tasty. (Thanks, [personal profile] heresluck, for the intro to that ingredient, even if I didn't do the homemade variety.)

3. The medical supply place finally called me back, and rather than add complications by mailing everything, I drove over there to do the exchange. I got home to another message on my answering asking me to come back and sign a form they forgot. Um, I'm gonna go with no?

4. I picked up the in-canon novel "Veronica Mars: The Thousand Dollar Tan Line" by showrunner Rob Thomas when it came out after the movie. It was not as good as another episode, and sadly not as good as the better fic, but still a way to show my financial support to the franchise. I didn't realize he wrote another one until I saw it name-checked in my recent fic binge, so I inquired with my library's online catalog, and now I have an electronic copy waiting on my Kindle.

5. I have about 9 days of vacation that I need to use or lose before the end of April, along with 7 days of carryover. I feel so grateful for that bounty; I remember in the kid's early years how I used almost every scrap of it. Now that I'm working from home for the most part, I don't even have to take time off to stay with him on his breaks or illnesses, or use the PTO rather than drag my ailing meat bag into the office when I'm sick. Of course it helps that I have 15 years with this company and a nice accrual rate. :)

A fabulous Friday and weekend to you all as well!

Wowsers, I seem to have lost a month there. I blame my birthday weekend, which kept me busy enough to put me behind on my email and social networks, and I just...never caught up. Plus, the Club Vivid deadline is looming menacingly (insert the Jaws theme here), and by gum, I'm not going to let another Vividcon go by without submitting some kind of entry.

Between sudden-death work deadlines and being sucked into vid headspace (which this time around means reading a ton of Veronica Mars fic and TWOP recaps during the precious free moments during the day and vidding waaay too late into the night), plus effectively single-parenting the Emperor due to my husband's soul-sucking work hours, I am running on too few neurons right now.

Sooo...anybody up to take a look at my Veronica Mars vid? I hope to have a first draft ready tonight, and the deadline is Friday, so that's not a lot of time. All betas welcome!

How can I have vid ideas for a show I'm NOT EVEN WATCHING??!!

Fannish osmosis, I blame you - and all the delicious, tempting Derek/Stiles fic.

NYARGH.

At least it's a little distraction from my current Veronica Mars fixation.

I would usually celebrate by taking the day off work, but I'm already burning through my vacation days with the Vancouver trip. Instead, I bought my general admission and Dog's Breakfast tickets for the con, plus I finally got the confirmation letter that they received my vid entry. \o/ There's still the niggling detail, though, where I'll be staying. Anyone have space for me in their hotel room? Please?

In other linky news:

[livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe posted a delightful, sensual, and porny Veronica Mars fic for me, because she is awesome both at remembering and basically as a person. *GRIN* It's definitely tipping me towards working on a VM vid for Club Vivid.

I can't tell if the creators of this Can I Get a Hell Yeah! T-shirt are Farscape fans, or if it's just that common a saying. I'd totally get it, if I thought the Emperor would refrain from yelling that every time I wore it.

Cate Blanchett is beautiful, full-stop. But it's so refreshing to see a gorgeous woman who has bags under her eyes. We age and we get tired. No amount of expensive creams and lotions are going to fix that. (Note to self: you should still get more sleep.)

The Scale of the Universe 2 is a nifty toy to zoom in and out of. Start at the smallest point of the scale and pretend you're on a massive Katamari roll!

I am having a mellow birthday; it's been really nice. I've gotten a bunch of greetings on Facebook, been useful several times at work, the Emperor called me from school on his teacher's phone to let me know he had an awesome day, and I may even indulge in some greasy carry-out for dinner. But really, I'm pushing forward to the end of the day tomorrow, when I'll be past my annual review (*fingers crossed* for a raise) and some other news.

Have a great Wednesday, all!

Boosted from [personal profile] kashmir:

You know what’s coming up? October 3rd. Are you doing anything special to mark the one seven eight year anniversary of Lilly Kane’s murder?

When you see this on your flist, quote Veronica Mars.

Veronica: So you got a trophy for a rim job?

Goddamn, I miss that show. If I weren't already 20 hours behind on everything else, I would totally bust out my season 1 DVDs.

Many apologies for the twee subject line. This post has been accumulating itself in my brain for what seems like weeks now, and nothing else would do for it.

I really fucking hate paperwork, fine print, phone calls, and all attendant annoying minutiae thereof. The resolution of the red tape of the past few weeks has included:

Kindergarten, Taxes, Mortgage, and FSA - I'd rather have lions, tigers, and bears )

We hates paperwork! NYARGH.

At least the hives cleared up a couple of weeks later as mysteriously as they arrived. Man, those were annoying. I still have no idea what caused them.

I must share with you my new crush, which comes with a to-make-a-long-story-short-as-I-can explanation. With last week's episode of Glee, I was wondering why Idina Menzel didn't sing, given her background. That, however, got swept aside when I found out that Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff, the other guest star, had appeared in Spring Awakening together, which led me to that show's website, which led me to The Bitch of Living, which has taken up residence in my head. It's such a fist-pumping anthem of male teenage energy and sexual frustration, and I love the choreography as well. Plus, the first singer's intensity and snarling delivery reminds me of Jason Dohring's portrayal of Logan Echolls, which sent me skimming back through my favorite Veronica Mars fic. I love the Internet. (Ooo - and Jonathan Groff at the end is totally channeling a Matthew Bomer-esque look and feel. Ah, pretty singing boys...)

Um...yeah. Adolescent sexual frustration and a visceral loathing of paperwork is pretty much is where my head is right now. Thanks, brain!

Author: [livejournal.com profile] grammarwoman
Fandom/Character/Setting: Veronica Mars, Weevil/OFC (but really gen), future!fic
Rating: PG-13 for language
Word count: 2000
Author's notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] inlovewithnight's Holiday Catchallthon 2008. Thanks for running this, 'Night. You've prompted some brilliant stories.

[livejournal.com profile] harmonyangel requested "Veronica Mars. Weevil future!fic. What does the future hold for him? Does he have a chance of making it out of his circumstances? Any pairings, het or slash, are fine (though I'd prefer no crossgen pairings). But gen is good, too." I hope this comes close to meeting your request.

So why did it take until today for me to find that that not only is the CW planning on relaunching BH, 90120, but Rob Thomas is bringing back 'Cupid'?

I mean, DUDE. I religiously watched the former for at least 4 years or so (CHEEZE-TASTIC!), and the cancellation of the latter was completely due to my curse, as I LOVED it.

What's even funnier is that RT was supposed to be behind the 90210 remake but had to drop out due to his other prospects. The genius behind "Veronica Mars", let loose again on bitchy, privileged West Coast high schoolers? I would totally have watched that. Alas, I doubt I'll be tuning into the new show, unless it approaches the enjoyment levels of 'Gossip Girl'.

In other VM-related news, 'Moonlight' has been canceled, just when it was starting to make more judicious use of Jason Dohring actually being vampiric. (Did they not know why I was tuning in? It certainly wasn't for the lead!) I'm not actually all that heartbroken, as I've known all along that it was a crappy show. I just hope JD gets picked up again, this time in something that uses him wisely. Hey, Rob Thomas! He'd be great on 'Cupid'!

So yeah, I am otherwise completely out of the loop. Any other entertainment news I should know about? (I'm all over 'Dollhouse' and 'Caprica', but that's about it.)
