The Vancouver con was fun! It wasn't the concentrated giddiness of the Minneapolis con, but neither was it the introverted loneliness of pre-fangirl, Hewlett Harem, con attendance.

Highlights:

So many good things! )

However, getting there (and back) was decidedly NOT half the fun. So many bad things )

One of these days, I will attend a con, and there will be NO DRAMA. At least the Emperor and the dog got fed in my absence, and school was attended. They both missed me a lot, which warmed my heart.

I am still gobsmackingly tired. It did not help when I stepped into an online discussion today, trying to point out the insulting nature of "a little bit pregnant" and how pregnancy is not a binary condition, to counteract a whole lot of mansplaining. I thought I was done with crying at work. *sigh*

Next up: my vid!

I drove home from St. Louis this morning through pouring rain, called in late to work en route, and took a 3 hour nap in my own wonderful bed. I am still wiped out. But holy bejeebus, the Vancouver con was amazing in how completely wonderful it was.

[livejournal.com profile] mercury973 and I split some pictures, because there's no such thing as too much David Hewlett.

Hewlett. David Hewlett. )

Charlie's Angels gone completely off-kilter. )

And now I must go home, bolt dinner, escort the Emperor to capoeira, and not pass out until at least he's gone to bed. I think I can, I think I can...

Man, it's only been a few days, and I don't even remember who linked this: Reunion of the Rikers, where Marina Sirtis and Jonathan Frakes sit around and have the most wonderfully breezy chat about a sitcom starring Riker and Troi and what they'd be like at home, and their romantic journey through the series and movies. It had me giggling almost the whole time.

On the other end of the spectrum...Just today, several people posted about Joe Flanigan's piece on Martin Firrell's site. But what I found most fascinating there was Kate Mulgrew's contributions. This ballsy lady went in and told TPTB that she thought it would undermine Janeway's position to be having sex, that she believed Janeway went through more than the previous captains by having her life stripped away, so she instead concentrated on guiding her crew. Most of all, when she mentioned she was 39 when she started, it blew me away - that's only a couple of years older than I am now, and I can't imagine having attained by then such gravitas, such dignified calm as she displayed. If I ever were to meet her, I would love to shake her hand.

Sunday was as deliriously happy-making as Saturday was failworthy.

Pics and it DID happen )

David Hewlett, however are you so entirely Awesome?

Someone at the con asked David Nykl for his impression of Joe Flanigan, since Hewlett told us that everyone has their own take.
