Well, the Fembots vid has been submitted to the VVC queue, hopefully arriving in a viewable fashion. I'm not done done with it; the credits are bare bones, there are still a few clips that need tweaking, and I have vidder's remorse of sources that didn't get included but should have. I winced even as I hit submit, because I knew if I didn't let it go I'd be tweaking things and re-rendering into the wee hours of the morning, and I was already past the deadline. Plus, I'm paranoid about the sizing and aspect ratio; I have no idea how much Sony Vegas automagically took care of for me in stringing together the completely disparate sizes, and if it's going to appear acceptably or as utter garbage on the projection screen. (Holy crapballs, was it a wide range of sizes!)

Many thanks to [personal profile] sabaceanbabe and [personal profile] kass for supportive squee, and [personal profile] jetpack_monkey for valuable source info and feedback. You guys are the best! Also, much love and gratitude to my husband for putting up with me pouring all my free time into my endeavor, and watching new versions and cheering me on as I wondered if it was worth it.

But for now, I can let my brain idle back down from my obsessive 24/7 vid-focus and actually get some other stuff done, like my reading page, the emails that have stacked up, and, I dunno, some actual work for this job that pays me.

...Wait, how do I do this life thing again?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again;  you all are AMAZING.  I would respond to each and every one of your insightful comments about the Job Drama, but they would all sum up to the same thing:

Thank you for being there and offering up your advice and support.

The husband decided to go ahead and notify TPTB that his last day would be in a month's time.  He's tired of fighting and being under so much stress; the minute that he came to the conclusion that he should quit, his back and his stomach stopped hurting for the first time in a long while.  That would seem to me to be proof positive that this is the Right Thing to do.

Meanwhile, I'm struggling with worse-than-usual cramps, ongoing fatigue (these thunderstorms do not make for restful sleep, especially with our paranoid dog), and a pile-up of chores at home, all of which is contributing to a complete loss of focus at my work.  At this point, I just want this week to be over.

Thanks again, everyone.  Knowing I can turn to you guys helps me more than I can say.

A while back, the gracious and talented [livejournal.com profile] ivorygates posted her Not a 'Waterloo' mix, a song list for her gorgeously aching love story Waterloo Bridge, an SG-1 AU with a gender-flipped Daniel Jackson. We got into something of a discussion about other compatible songs. There may have been subliminal coercion going on, because before I knew it, I got infected with the urge to create a collection myself.

The following would be the result.

I've been fussing, rearranging, and cutting for a bit now, and I think I must call it done before I fall into a state of endless dithering.

Explanations and prevarications )

Of course, this is dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] ivorygates, for all the hours I've spent blissfully lost in your work. I ran out of marble for your temple, so this will have to do instead.

Music ahoy! )

I have no idea who you might be, Anonymous, but thanks for the purple rhino!

Five weeks of problems
Four dabbling mechanics
Three exchanged batteries
Two swapped alternators
And a total cost of 500 dollars.

Yikes. The good news is, the husband's car is working again. The bad news is, the total price tag in time, labor, and actual money was ridiculous.

Many thanks to the BiLs and [livejournal.com profile] the_sween for all their efforts. Between going back to Farm 'n Fleet for new batteries, installing a new alternator in and out and in, and finally realizing the problem was in the wiring, it took a lot to get the car running. Given that the sucker is ancient, I shouldn't bitch too much. (Especially because a) car payments SUCK, and b) briefly living as a one-car household when we were used to two was not fun.)

So yeah. *PHEW* *knock on wood* Go imports!
