So the magic time of 10 AM CT for the Broadway in Chicago tickets to Hamilton arrived, and I clicked the link. It spun, and spun, and spun. Then BOOM! Errors all over the place. Did no one learn their lesson from the crashy example of the lottery's launch?

If I do manage to get in today, does anyone want to get tickets to see a performance with me?

It's here, at long last - my Hamilton week! I'm flying out to New York tomorrow and arriving about 5 PM, meeting up with

heresluck and her friend for lunch on Wednesday and then seeing the "Hamilton" matinee, and then flying back home Thursday morning. (My visit was supposed to be a bit longer, but the airline changed my return flight to leave earlier, alas.) I am intending on visiting the Trinity Cemetery to see the Hamilton-related memorials, but other than that I have no firm goals. Maybe hit up Stub Hub for Wednesday night tickets? If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.

I am trying not to have my usual travel freakout, but I still haven't packed yet. Being there less than 48 hours will hopefully lighten my load and my stress level.

We hosted the in-laws and my family for Easter yesterday, and it went off more smoothly than I could have hoped for; everything was delicious, everyone seemed happy, and no one brought up politics where I could hear. (My brother is a Fox News kind of guy, whereas my dad and I are crunchy liberals; things can get heated.) I took today off work for my birthday and travel prep, thankfully, because after everyone left yesterday I was too sore to do all the cleanup, so the leisurely pace has been wonderful. Bless my husband for doing an initial triage last night and running the dishwasher; it made round two of cleanup much easier.

The Emperor returns to school tomorrow after being off for Spring Break for the last week and a half; my lucky husband will have to deal with the inevitable homework grumbles until I get back.

Notes: This is a Festivids 2015 treat for

sdwolfpup, one of several people who requested a "Hamilton" vid. I really wanted to make a vid for this recent musical obsession of mine, and I wanted to express my thanks for her ongoing contribution to fandom that is More Joy Day, so here's the result.

Lin-Manuel Miranda has said that Eminem is one of his inspirations, listing the "8 Mile" track "Lose Yourself" as a specific song. I love the beat and build in that tune, but the lyrics weren't doing it for me, so I went looking and found Eminem's original demo for it, and nearly lost it at how perfect this version was.

After throwing together most of the vid, I approached

heresluck for feedback. Her squeeful response was extra gratifying, and then her masterful betaing was beyond what I could have hoped for. This vid is a 1000% better because of her. Thank you thank you thank you!

'Tis true - I have joined the fandom horde of "Hamilton". I love just about everything and everyone involved in the show. The music and lyrics are fantastic, the performances are thrilling, and the story gets me every damn time I listen. I joined

hamiltunes to share in the group feels. I even threw caution and my wallet to the wind and got a ticket for the end of March. (Happy birthday to me!)
