Spoilers: Through season 5

With a job like theirs, who can blame the SGA crew for playing hooky?

Notes: I love this team so hard, and I miss them so much, especially when they were allowed to be complete and utter GOOFBALLS. This time around I included lots and lots of Teyla, to make up for my grievous lack in the last vid. This came together in little over a week, like some kind of fever dream. It was a great test of my new laptop.

I could make a career out of vidding to They Might Be Giants. Their songs are short, sweet, and fun, with a great beat and usually not a plot in sight.

Many thanks again to [personal profile] sabaceanbabe for her wonderful feedback and squee (it's always nice for someone else to see the joy you try to put into your work), and to the family at home for tolerating me being in vid headspace for the duration of the creation. I hope you like it!

Title: Particle Man

Being a superhero is all in a day's work for Rodney McKay, with a little help from John Sheppard and Ronon Dex.

Notes: If my first vid came rushing out like a river busting through a dam, this one was a trickle during a drought. It fought me about every step of the way. Problems included finding clips of Rodney not talking, John without a gun in his hand, and Ronon sharing a screen with the other two. Plus, I felt bad for cutting Teyla out. I hope to get her in her own vid someday.

ANYWAY. Thanks again to [personal profile] kazbaby for looking this over and giving me some stellar feedback, and to [livejournal.com profile] darsynia, [livejournal.com profile] miniglik, and my husband for putting up with me shoving this in their faces again and again. I'm proud of the end result. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do, and I'd love to know what you think of it.

ThinkGeek sent me an email detailing their latest release of T-shirts. I want almost all of them. Silly money.

They also linked to this post of yesteryear about T-shirtism, or what happens when someone comes up with a good design and people start to riff on it. I especially liked the "Steven&Elyse&Alex&Mallory&Jennifer" (I was a HYOOGE Michael J. Fox fangirl back in the day), "Luke&Leia&Han&Chewy", and "Simon&John&Nick&Andy&Roger". If I were to do one, I would probably make a "John&Aeryn&D'Argo&Zhaan&Rygel&Chiana" or a "Cameron&Sam&Daniel&Vala&Teal'c" or a "John&Rodney&Teyla&Ronon". Maybe a "Leroy&Tony&Tim&Ziva&Ducky&Abby&Jimmy". See? So easy to noodle around with that theme.

[livejournal.com profile] elderwitty has done some stellar work and compiled a list in two parts (so far) of McKay/Sheppard AUs. I mean, I knew they were totally a little black dress of fiction, but DAMN, guys, you get around!

The Emperor has been leveling up in AWESOME recently. He's getting dressed by himself more often than not, he's slowly but surely getting into the swing of chores (mainly table setting and clearing) by dint of weekly Lego bribes (a little easier for his brain to grasp than money), and astounding us daily with the schemes he comes up with. For instance, last week he evidently got a garbled version of the Noah's Ark story from a friend, so he came up with an elaborate scheme to make a picture of the Earth and paste it on Mars and vice versa, so God would destroy Mars and not Earth.

I love my little goober man.

Not that I get to wear T-shirts at my place of employment on any kind of regular basis, and trumpeting this would be inviting all sorts of trouble, but..."I'm not slacking off. My code's compiling." should be mine. I'm just saying.

Oh, and for my SGA buds? McKay needs "Stand Back. I'm going to try science" and "SCIENCE It works, bitches.", doncha think?

I've been gobbling up the back entries of this delightful LJer [livejournal.com profile] sheafrotherdon to catch all of her stories about the McKay/Sheppard characters from "Stargate: Atlantis" (but set in an AU), and I came across this post about Women in Academia, which made me think of my favorite academic.

(To everyone else who likes fanfic? Go give her Farm in Iowa series a try, even if you're not familiar with SG:A. So beautiful.)

I've recently become enamoured of "Stargate: Atlantis", and the character Rodney McKay in particular, so I figured I would watch the "McKay and Mrs. Miller" and "Tao of Rodney" episodes from this season. To even my show-killing score, I figured I would even throw the makers of the show some money and buy the episodes off of iTunes.

It took for freaking ever to download them last night, so I've been looking forward to watching them all day today.

I've now spent 2 FUCKING HOURS trying to get the damn videos to play, with both picture AND sound. *Gasp* If I watch an episode through Quicktime, I get sound, but the video only refreshes every other minute or so. If I crack open iTunes, the sound just goes away, and the picture gets all jerky, but (sort of) plays.

Fuck you, Apple, Quicktime, and iTunes. I'm going to get the damn things off of Isohunt and actually watch them. Tomorrow. NYARGH.

Right now I'm drinking wine and trying to get my blood pressure back under control.

G'night, flist.
