grammarwoman: A lovely redhead uses her laptop to vid. (Vidding)
I love Festivids for many of the same reasons I love the Christmas season: the anticipation, the shared joy and excitement, and the overall squee at gifts received. Plus it's a fantastic motivator for making vids. :)

So, my Festividder, I hope one of these ideas strikes your fancy and inspires you in this ridiculous shared hobby of ours.

In no particular order, and with much borrowing from previous letters, some things about vids that make me happy: being moved emotionally and/or physically (if I can't help dancing in my seat, that's a total win); editing that can never be too literal with lyrics matching or movement timing; people with expressive faces; awesome women doing awesome things; found family and team feels; characters who derive and express joy in being around each other; and people who are phenomenally good at what they do, whatever that might be. Extreme competence FTW!

As for music, I have some suggestions below, but please feel free to use whatever delights and inspires you. I love a wide range of music, so I'm looking forward to the surprise of your choice.

As for my requests, there is only one new entry to my recurring list, because some itches still need scratching.

American Gothic (1995-96) [TV] )

Auntie Mame (1958) [Movie] SAFETY )

Ghostbusters (2016) [Movie] SAFETY )

Grease 2 [Movie] )

Hudson Hawk (1991) [Movie] SAFETY )

The Pirate Movie (1982) [Movie] SAFETY )

Wolf Lake (2001) [TV] )

Thank you, and have fun!

The older I get, the more I come to appreciate how valuable time is, so the fact that you, my wonderful vidder, will spend some of your precious resources to make a gift vid for me is amazing. I thank you most gratefully in advance, because whatever you come up with will thrill me, I promise.

To borrow from Prince, there ain't no particular vid I'm more compatible with, but I do enjoy ones that hit all my FEELS and/or make me dance in my seat. You can never be too literal with lyrics matching or movement that hits on the beat, either. I especially enjoy people with expressive faces, awesome women doing awesome things, characters who take and show joy in being around each other, and people who are phenomenally good at what they do, whatever that might be. Extreme competence FTW! (Yes, I stole that from last year's letter. Recycling will be a recurring theme.)

I could try to make some weak claim of being environmentally friendly by recycling past choices, but the truth is that I can't come up with anything better than my former requests, and I am all out of creative braining. Plus, I still love these sources to pieces; I hope you do, too.

Oh, vidder, I can't begin to tell you how giddy you're making me just in anticipation. A vid for me? *BLISS* This hobby of ours is hard and frustrating and occasionally drives one up a wall, but I hope it pays off for you with an end result that makes you as happy as I know it will make me.

For music suggestions, I will steal from last year's description: I am wide open. Anything from opera to Broadway musical soundtracks to bluegrass to techno to industrial to whatever song your delightful brain hits upon, I will love. Feel free to ignore any suggestions I may make below if you find something that better tickles your fancy.

Vidding-wise, things that I love include character movement to the beat, literal (or liberal) interpretation of the lyrics, people with expressive faces, awesome women doing awesome things, characters who take and express joy in being around each other, and people who are phenomenally good at what they do, whatever that might be. Extreme competence FTW!

If you want further general inspiration, you can take a trip through my Festivids tag.

I can't wait to see your amazing work. :)

Here are some slightly longer descriptions of my requests:

Anne of Green Gables series )

Grease 2 )

Dear Festividder,

If you matched on one or more of my requests, I think we would be fantastic friends, because you clearly have amazing taste and a generosity of spirit. :) Thank you so much for indulging me by making a vid.

It was so hard this year to pare down my list, but I guarantee that you will make me squeefully happy with any of these fandoms. You may have noticed it's kind of heavy on the nostalgia; I am what I am, that being a child of the 80s who spent way too much watching movies on cable and the cheesiest of sci-fi/fantasy.

When it comes to music to go along with these requests, I am wide open. Anything from opera to Broadway musical soundtracks to bluegrass to techno to industrial to whatever song your delightful brain hits upon, I will love. Feel free to ignore any suggestions I may make below if you find something that better tickles your fancy.

If you want a further feel for what floats my vidding boat, have a look at some of my vids here.

I can't wait to see whatever you make, vidder! It's going to be an utter delight.

Here's my sign-up info. (Please forgive me for recycling some past descriptions.)

Thank you again, dear vidder, for fulfilling any of these wishes. To those about to create, I salute you!

You are just about my favorite person in the world right now. I have been looking forward to Festivids all year, and now it's time to get my squee all over you! (Uh, sorry about that. Hope you brought a towel.)

I love vids, which, DUH, I know - who would sign up for Festivids if they didn't? I love all sorts of vids set to all sorts of music. I watch vids enough that my son has build up his own list of his favorites, based on what he's seen me watch. Vids have introduced me to new music and new fandoms. Vids are a happy place for me.

To narrow things down a bit: I'm open to almost any kind of music. I'm not a huge fan of country & western (though I have a weakness for really poppy C&W, like Shania Twain and The Dixie Chicks, and I adore bluegrass) or rap (I think it's a spoken-word comprehension thing and my lack thereof). If you think you've found the perfect song, though, go for it!

You may notice that a few of the entries below are repeats from last year. I have urges, dude! Unfulfilled urges, longings that linger through the... OK, that's getting a little weird.

To the requests!

I really hope you have fun with one (or more! I'm totally greedy like that!) of these requests. Just picture me jumping up and down, dancing a fangirl boogie of total joy, because that's what I'll be doing when I get to see it.

I want a pony, and a Tardis, and a return of SGA but written by fangirls...

Wait, no, Festivids!

To my most esteemed Festividder:

I am already tickled pink and excited about anything you might bestow on me. This is my first time participating in Festivids, and I am still a bit nervous about offering up my services, as n00b as they are. So really, the fact that someone would create a vid for me? Awesomesauce on a frabjous cake.

To put it simply, I love vids in almost all shapes and sizes. I love ones that make me laugh, and ones that make cry. Ones that make me bop in my seat, and ones that suck me in, *chinhanding* until the end. Ones with shiny effects and ones with simple but effective clipping - both will leave me wondering "How did they do that?"

I must admit, sometimes I will twitch at aspect ration incongruities, but feh. Glass houses throwing black kettles at pots...or something.

As to my specific requests, let me repost my original choices, but now with more babbling! (Please don't be scared, or scarred, or run away screaming. I'm harmless!)

American Gothic )

Animaniacs Pinky & The Brain )

I hope I haven't scared you off entirely, my dear Festividder, because I look forward to seeing the end result. Good luck, and may it bring you joy in the work.
