The party's over...

grammarwoman...and the sadness has set in. Yup, the Farscape gathering in LA has been and gone, and I had an absolutely fabulous weekend, but I now have a long, bleak stretch of time with no cons in it. Plus, I am BEYOND tired from an over-full weekend. Waking up this morning with a full-on dermal allergic reaction (swollen hands, rashy arms and legs) of unknown origins and the ensuing dosing of Benedryl has not helped matters at all. (I'm blaming the hotel room, but not its occupants - I have nothing but gleeful thanks for my patient roommates nakedwesley, vecturist, and pavaneofstars. I had a blast hanging out with you ladies, and I hope to do so again.)
I have every intention of posting an actual wrap-up (though my history of following through with such is abysmal), but I thought I'd share some highlights with you.
With only two exceptions - AKA the pair of snotty bitches seated behind me - every single Scaper I met was fantastically friendly, generous, warm, and all things wonderful. My specific gratitude goes to my seat-mate April (thanks for the Target tripod tip!), and Angie and her crew at breakfast. My apologies to everyone else whose name I've forgotten. The spirit is willing, but the brain is tired.
My vid won!kazbaby called me Saturday morning to tell me that she'd read that it had been played on Friday. I of course missed it. *headdesk* (In a funny turn of events, I got to text kazbaby when her vid won as well.) I'm beyond floored that my very first vid won a prize, but I really wish Creation had a better system for announcing winners - I'd already dropped some money on merch before I found out I won, and I had to chase around half the day on Saturday just trying to get my GC. Plus, I'm afraid I've sullied any further chances of winning, as I asked if there was any way they could play it again so I could see it in large size. That is, I asked, was told to ask again later, and got a huffy response when I did. And of course Creation had oodles of chances to do so, but for some reason, this was the most vid-light con of theirs I've ever attended. *sigh* I still had fun spending half the GC on lots of Farscape loot, and I even saved some for next time. Plus, I=WINNAH. *grin*
I got my picture taken with Ben Browder and Claudia Black, and in hindsight, I'm really hoping I didn't piss Ben off when I gave him a quick greeting and then squeed all over Claudia. They both graciously indulged me with the following pose (shamelessly stolen fromnakedwesley), after Claudia warned me that her lipstick precluded actual contact:
Also, Claudia totally made me cry during her panel with Ben when her little tow-headed boy climbed up on stage and she snuggled him mightily. I'm only human.
GUH. I get to go home soon, thank Zod. For all my post-con letdown, I am so happy to be with my family (and my very own bed) again.
