Guess what our most recent load of laundry looks like after the Emperor left a brown crayon in his pants...

Yes, exactly. *sigh*

In other news, thanks to the brilliant groupthink of [livejournal.com profile] the_sween and [livejournal.com profile] hecateuse who had it running when we showed up for BSG last Friday night, the Emperor is now fascinated with Futurama, which pleases his dad to no end as that's his favorite show of all time.

However, the Emperor is less interested in seeing all the eps in a row; he'd rather go back and watch the same set over and over. But you know what? Futurama is visually rich enough that seeing an episode multiple times doesn't send me into a fugue. Unlike, say, Scooby-Doo -- did you know that Scooby-Doo is 40 years old now? And that Shaggy was even more of a stoner wastoid than I ever picked up on as a kid?

We also tried "The Empire Strikes Back" last week, but the Emperor didn't take to it like he did "A New Hope". I think we'll offer it again in a month or so -- I think if he can last until Yoda on Dagobah, he'll be hooked.

I can't tell you how much it thrills me to be nurturing my son along the path to High Geekdom. As soon as he levels up in reading and attention span, I think we'll start doing chapter books. When he gets sucked into reading on his own, he has such a treat ahead of him. Though he may get mad that his inheritance has already been spent on books and DVDs. *grin*

Dude. If you do it right, he'll think it's awesome that his inheritance has already been spent on books and DVDs, so that he won't have to spend his own money on it. :P

Heh. Futurama is sort of on the borderline of age-appropriate, isn't it? I mean, robots! spaceships! jokes about number of eyes! But also blackjack and hookers and suicide booths... Glad he's liking it though. I think a lot of stuff goes over kids' heads at that age anyway.

All hail the High Geekdom. *bows*

No kids on the horizon as of yet, but FH is already taking care of that.

The first three times I played Empire Strikes Back for P he was asleep before they got off Hoth.

I just asked him (while typing), "which is your favorite Star Wars episode?"
"I like the complete saga."
J, "no, which episode do you like best?"
"I like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6."
"You don't like any of them best?"
"What, you mean like The Clone Wars or The Galactic Civil War? I like the COMPLETE SAGA."

Hee. Oh, five year olds.
