Booze and snooze

Just when I thought I was out of the illin' zone...I've got a drippy back of the throat thing going on. *sigh*

Taking a cue from the family Hot Toddy recipe, I've been experimenting with mixtures of tea and booze. SoCo and tea? Yummy. Brandy and tea? A classic. Tonight's offering is tea and cherry wine. It's somewhere between an extra fruity mulled wine and a hot sangria. Very tasty, in any case, especially in my Farscape mug.

The Emperor requested "Don't Lets Start" as one of his bedtime songs tonight, and the last I heard from him, he was sleepily mumbling it to himself. He and his daddy were singing "Snail Shell" at dinner. It's been a very TMBG couple of days.

Random crappy politics things are going on at work, but I can't give a damn. I'm firmly in "nod and smile" land. This may change, but for now, I'm doing OK.

Time for more tea.

Don't Let's Start is one of the best songs of all time ever. You are awesome for exposing your child to good music from the beginning.

Aw, thanks. I got Direct from Brooklyn for the husband a couple years back, and the Emperor loves it. It's got so much good stuff on it, from "Doctor Worm" to both versions of "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)". The Johns are perfect for kids, and so educational.

They remotely affect me, as I have to keep adjusting the design document to keep up with the boss' whims, and I just wound up with 50% more work to do on this project, but as I prefer long project work in Visual Basic to annoying Fortran maintenance, it's fine with me. Just as long as the project scope doesn't change while I'm working on it...

I know! Isn't it awesome? I got that and a ridiculous amount of other merchandise (a big goblet, shot glasses and so on) at the con this past fall. The vendor saw the "FARSCAPE FANGIRL SUCKER" written across my forehead and just started pulling crap out of boxes.

I was damn lucky J could get Thursday off, or my kids would have been totally without supervision, as I was unable to move large portions of the day.

So what guests/fandoms/events would entice you to a convention? This one was Star Wars/Star Trek/BSG, which hit a lot of my buttons. I gotta make to a Stargate one before Atlantis goes off the air, and a Ben Browder one before he stops touring.

Farscape would be number 1 draw, then perhaps Joss and Co, BSG, etc. But I want WRITERS more than I want actors, so that's a drawback of a lot of conventions. (But Browder would totally work! Actor+Writer+Fan all in one!)

From what I've heard of the Farscape cons, they consistently pull in the writers (Henson, O'Bannon, etc.) as well as the actors.

I got a DVD of BB's 2006 Farscape Creation Con appearance, and it is 80 minutes of pure pleasure. WANT. I think I will have to bludgeon the husband into letting me go to the 2nd Final Frellin' Farewell Celebration in Burbank this year.

Then there's always Comic Con, which has a ton of both writers and actors. Someday...

Hot apple juice with Jack Daniels. Best if you heat up the juice in the microwave with a bag of Bengal Spice (http://www.celestialseasonings.com/products/detail.html/herbal-teas/bengal-spice) in, and add the JD after. Use Martinelli's (http://www.martinellis.com/Products/10oz_AppleJuice_GoldenApple.php) if you have the option, as it is the ruling apple juice of all time.
