Friday, Food, Festivids

The weekend is soooo close now. We're having a potluck today at work, and I am about two bites away from uncomfortably full from the sheer deliciousness available. (And about two blinks from a nap, too.)
I could/should be working, but there's a code freeze right now as an urgent project gets approved to go live, so everything I do has to wait until next week anyway.
Instead, I am working on my Festivids offers and requests. I copied the whole list of available entries to a spreadsheet, then went through and deleted everything that didn't immediately pique my interest. Now I'm going back and removing those items that I merely own and/or have enjoyed, feel like I should want to do, or would like to see a vid for, in favor of the ones that really resonate with me, because 60 fandoms is kind of a ridiculous amount to offer. This is so HARD. I need to make another list of things I would consider making as treats, so I don't feel so bad about cutting them from the list.
Vidders, what's your winnowing process and criteria?

Date: 2013-10-11 10:41 pm (UTC)My offers tend to be low, but I also fill in later with treats for anything I'm iffy on at sign-up time. This way I can guarantee that if only make the one vid, it's something I am absolutely going to be proud of and that my recipient will likely love.

Date: 2013-10-12 02:04 am (UTC)And as the years go by (here and also in Yuletide) I find I'm less inclined to either offer or request a fandom if I've received something amazing in it already. So, e.g., last year I got amazing Big Eden vids, and this year I don't feel the need to offer it or to request it -- my niche is filled.

Date: 2013-10-12 04:48 am (UTC)I know what you mean about previous gifts; not only have I delighted in what I've gotten, I feel like it would be rude or something to keep asking for more in the same vein, as if the first one wasn't enough.
I have my requests written up, but I'm going to sleep on it and make sure I don't get any late-breaking changes occurring to me. These feedback should make it much easier to pare down the offer list.
