Friday fugue

If I were a kid again, I think I'd be having a tantrum right now, for no good reason other than the fact that I could.
Being a responsible adult, I have to settle for trying to articulate what's going on. I feel...restless and irritated, trying to wrap my head around the fact that it's Friday, which is usually a source of joy and relaxation. Instead, it's like the weekend is staring back at me with an insolent sneer, saying "Fuck you, asswipe."
We met with the infertility doctor a couple of weeks ago, answered a lot of questions, and raised several more. Right now we're at the start of the Babymaking Choose Your Own Adventure (or rather, Have Time/Fate/Your Ladyparts Choose the Adventures for You), where we're waiting for my ovulation blood tests to come back and the arrival of my period before we can take any further steps. Judging from the PMS grumblings going on, it's going to be another crampy few days, which makes me think that my insides, like Edwina's, are once again a rocky place where the husband's seed can find no purchase. Last time the scar tissue got cleaned up, I was pregnant the next month. I just want to fast-forward to the results already.
My current funk is not helped by having been woken up two hours early by a robocall from school, informing me that the outlying bus routes today were canceled due to weather. Seeing as I drop the Emperor off every day, I did not need to know that. What I did need was more actual sleep, instead of the dozing, fitful crap that followed.
The pediatrician says the Emperor is hyperactive with impulse control issues. The school seems to be throwing up their hands and claiming they can't do anything to help. We've got another meeting scheduled in two weeks to let them know that's not acceptable. I am trying to squash the voice that says I have no business bringing another kid into the world when I can't handle the one I have. I figure the world needs more smart geeky offspring and learn to fucking adjust already.
In happier news, I am heading to Vancouver in April to attend another Stargate con. I have my passport, airfare booked to Seattle, and an invitation from
mercury973 to crash with her. The imminent fangirl meetup and the prospect of the Hewlett meet&greet is a very faint light at the end of this tunnel. (Plus I'm evilly pondering if we can find a grocery store in Vancouver that will sell us rotten tomatoes to throw at Brad Wright.)
The Castle Season 1 DVDs I got from the library are all frelled up, the two-pack of preg sticks I peed on this week were both invalid (though customer service is supposed to send me a free replacement), and my weekend plans have gone kerflooey. We've got cancer, injuries, and unemployment on both sides of the family; I'm scared to answer the phone anymore.
Please tell me happy things from your lives, friends. Or things that make you go SQUEEE! If all else fails, I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Date: 2011-02-26 01:07 am (UTC)Charlie Sheen made a total ass of himself, not once, but at least twice over the last day or so... (might be slightly undercut if you liked his show) - and this is only happy-ish if you find drunk people doing stupid things funny.
Also - the inflammation in my eyes that was making my sight blurry is nearly cleared up (if not all the way - I'll know tomorrow). =)
Also - puppies are cute! *g*

Hope your eye cleared up all the way - vision is very important and annoying when you don't have it. (My husband very valiantly does not laugh at me when I'm in the shower and ask for help as to which bottle is shampoo and which is conditioner. Stupid farsightedness.)
Puppies are adorable, especially mine, though the Emperor corrects me when I call the dog a puppy, considering she's 10 or so.
Thanks for the boosts!

Date: 2011-03-01 12:20 am (UTC)Also - I believe my eye thing is cleared up, I can wear my contacts starting tomorrow, so we shall see how things go. =)
Also - puppies are adorable and awesome... as long as they don't eat your shoes.

Date: 2011-03-01 10:31 pm (UTC)My dog went through a brief shoe-eating phase, mainly when she was alone and nervous. Then she settled down to just shoe-moving, as in she'd carefully pick up one of my shoes and move it to a different room in the house. I guess she was going for the threat there, or was simply taking pity on me.
