grammarwoman: (Bookworm Emperor)

...after we put him to bed for the night, the Emperor likes to sneak out of his room and play with things downstairs. The kid has a future as a superspy or cat burglar.

However, he occasionally makes me walk away laughing, rather than fuming.

Case in point: the second time I chased him back upstairs to bed and re-tucked him in, he looked up at me and asked, "Mommy, what do you call a gigantic polar bear?"

I was puzzled by what he meant, so I said, "You mean, like Mr. Bumble on Rudolph?"

"No, Mommy, I'm trying to tell you a joke."

"OH! So, what do you call a gigantic polar bear?"

"You don't call him, you just run away!"

I don't know if that's courtesy of one of his new classmates -- he FINALLY moved up to a 4 & 5-year-old room at daycare -- but it bodes well for our future conversations. Now if I could just figure out what TV show or movie he was trying to tell us about at dinner, about a white robot with green eyes...
