When the Emperor sleeps in on the weekends, it's always an ill omen of things to come, and sure enough, this past Sunday was pukies-and-listless. Then last night, the evil stomach bug leapt over to me. Yeah, I needed a day off, but this was not was you would call relaxing. Considering that I'm taking off Friday to go to a convention with friends, I don't know if I can get away with calling in sick tomorrow, too, especially because of the two projects currently in QA and testing. *sigh*

On the brighter side...band geeks are AWESOME. We found out at the recent block party that the youngest son of our next-door neighbors came down with a rare infection that's hammering at his kidneys. He should make a full recovery, but it's going to take a long time. In the interim, he's being home-schooled. Well, today the husband and I heard some very loud music coming from out front, only to find the marching band peforming on the neighbors' lawn for him. (His sister is a color-guard instructor, so she's got something of an in.) How cool is that? I may have gotten a little weepy, due entirely to the illness, of course.

I’m sorry that you are living in a sick house. We have been fairly luck this month that Caitlin has resisted the illnesses that have swept through her school. It is a very bad thing when Caitlin gets sick.

Which convention are you headed to? Is it that big Creation BSG/Star Trek/Xena event?

We’re off to a SF con in Madison called Geek.Kon this weekend for Lynne’s work

Cool. We thought about going (Lynne is a huge Xena fan), but the expense combined with previous Creation con experiences made us decide against it. Then Geek.Kon came up for Lynne’s work and that sort of cinched it.

I hope that your flu is over by then so you can relax and have some fun.

Marina Sirtis is awesome at cons. Lynne and I were at a con with her back in 2001. She was very funny and honest. She also had quite a potty-mouth. Nothing quite like hearing a Star Trek actor dropping f-bombs.

Aw! Sweet little band geeks.

I hope you and your little man recover quickly. My boys didn't get sick (*knocks on wood*) when I did last week, for which I'm really grateful. There's nothing like your kids being sick.
