The Emperor is head over heels in love. The object of his affection is named...Mary Poppins.

That's right, the classic kids movie from 1964 -- we put it in a couple of weeks ago when he was feeling pukey and listless, and in need of sedentary entertainment. He watched almost an hour of it, roaming around the room.

Since then, he's watched it almost every day. It's gotten to the point where he clamors for it: "Meh-whee BOPPins, MEHWHEE BOPPINS!" This morning, however, just made me shake my head. I heard him stirring around on the monitor, and the first sleepy words out of his mouth were -- you guessed it -- "mehwhee boppins".

He loves dancing (or kicking, if he's still in his highchair finishing a meal) along with the "Step in Time" number, aka "Sep n time". Every appearance of MP onscreen is greeted with her name. He's even started to quote parts of it, like this morning where he came out with the word "Cheeky" before MP said it to her duet partner in the mirror.

Even after seeing it umpteen times in a row, we're still enjoying it, which says something either to our patience and amusement at his delight, or that it's a damned good movie. (Thank whomever that Disney never tried to remake this classic!) Now the problem is, if/when he gets sick of it, what's a good replacement? Kid characters, lots of singing and dancing, no parent death (thanks, recent Disney archetypes!) or scary/violent fight scenes, and not Barney-level insipid...suggestions would be welcome.
