May is well and gone. The Emperor preceded Memorial Day weekend by being kicked out of daycare on Monday for stomach flu, and proceeded to spout from both ends for a day. Once there was no food remaining in his system, he threw up anything that dared venture into his stomach for the next three days. Less Daddy Daycare, more Daddy Laundry and Floor-cleanup. Friday, when the Emperor was finally all better, the daycare was closed for a teacher institute day. Most expensive two hours of daycare EVER. *sigh* But we made it through, and I think we managed to avoid infecting anyone else. *knock on wood*

However, he's making up for lost time by snacking his way through the day. His latest favorite is the oversize Goldfish. He's also being Captain Amazing with his word repetition skills. It seems like any day now, he's going to bust out with a phrase or sentence.

Today, I managed to jam my big toe on a wooden step racing to answer the phone while the Emperor was FINALLY napping. Of course, the call was for some stupid survey. I don't think I broke my toe, but it's definitely sore and sulky.

I wish teleporter tech was here already. In one of those annoying scheduling quirks, there's two events I want to go to, two weekends in a row -- my 15-year HS reunion in Lisle, then a family gathering over the extended 4th of July in way-up-there Wisconsin. The husband is...reluctant to do that much travelling, and I can't really blame him. But...*grump*

So, [livejournal.com profile] resolute, what's your take on the news of a lesbian DC character?

My take? We'll see what they do with her. Who writes her, etc. I mean, there's been a great lesbian cop (Renee Montoya) in the title Gotham Central for a while now. (Gotham Central is, get this, a police procedural set in Gotham City. It's Law and Order Gotham-style.) If I have the buzz correct, the new Batwoman is currently said cop's girlfriend. No powers or costume, just a mundane. With good writers -- Greg Rucka, Gail Simone, or some such -- it'll be great.

I did laugh at the NY Times's reporting of the event, though.
