Hello to Hallows

kink_bingo deadline, ah well.
But I did get the Emperor's birthday party planned, which went off without a hitch, and his costume finished yesterday so he could try it on. He and his dad went out trick-or-treating tonight for less than an hour; the misty/rainy mix did not lend itself to being outside. We had about 8 kids visit us for candy, which I think is an all-time low. More chocolate for us!
Now I can start thinking about my Festivids entry. I could have sworn I had a copy of the source in question, so I went digging through my DVDs. (My CDs, too, for good measure, where I found the soundtrack.) Then I pulled out the last tote of VHS tapes, and yeah, there it was, for all the good that will do me. Once again, my library system came the rescue. Now I have to track down my portable hard drive.
The rainy weather has slowed down the painters working on the exterior of our house. It's so close to done, but we need a couple of dry days. After that comes the new windows, and we'll be heading into winter all snug and pretty.
In other reno plans, my oven has been a thorn in my side for the past several years. I finally got sick of not being able to count on it maintaining a temperature above 350 and called a repair guy. He determined the malfunctioning part, but couldn't find a replacement piece for the > 15-year-old range. So it looks like we're in the market for a new slide-in gas range.
