Summary: Star Wars bitches get shit done.

Premiered at Club Vivid, 2016.

Notes: This song sucked me in the first time I heard it; there are at least four entries in my vid ideas list with this as the soundtrack. The one that really stuck with me, though, was an ode to space princesses, and after seeing "SW: The Force Awakens", it had to be about my favorite Star Wars ladies. Plus, once it occurred to me how well "Look hot in a bikini" and "Go call the governor" fit, I just had to do it.

Of course, making this meant rewatching Episodes 4-6 (still awesome) and Episodes 1-3 (ARGH ARGH ARGH still awful), plus all the extras to get just a little bit more of Padme being HBIC and not a razzer-frazzer damsel (or damnnsel, which is what my fingers typed the first time). There was much yelling at the TV, especially for choice tidbits like Lucas' proud statement of the fact that he's more of a technical director than a character one. (No shit, George!) I dithered for a while about tinkering with the song to give a verse or even a couple extra lines for Rey's section, but I talked myself out of it since Rey has only one movie so far to the other ladies' three apiece.

When I put out the call asking for a beta's eyes on this, sabaceanbabe rose to the challenge, pushing me to include more General Organa and tweak some other moments. Thank you so much, my dear!

Can't stand that song, but it TOTALLY WORKS. Also, it kinda makes me want to see Attack of the Clones, the one I skipped because I was so disappointed in Phantom. Revenge of the Sith I saw in theaters, and it was terrible, but I still managed to enjoy it despite all that, and because my expectations were somewhere on the floor with the stale popcorn and soda residue. But if it meant perhaps replacing the Padme from ROTS with the one in your vid, I might have to!

Love all the Leia, because how can I not. And I fully support why you limited Rey's involvement. Just means that in a few years you have to update it :)

I cannot in all good conscience recommend that anybody watch "Attack of the Clones". Sooooo much whiny Anakin. Sooooo much WTF about Padme falling for that angsty asshole. So maybe with a judicious use of the fast forward button? Or booze? Or both? UGH. About the only saving grace is Padme's action hero scene and her beautiful costumes.

I look forward to watching Rey kick ass across the galaxy in subsequent movies! :)

Haha, I feel your pain about the needed rewatch. Great vid, glad I saw cathexys' rec for it. Queen, Rebel Leader, Jedi -- those are some great canon characters even if canon could have done more with Padme and Leia. And a good song given the privilege that both the first two characters begin with: there's no glory without guts and effort to go with it. None of these women are figureheads.

One of the first things that struck me about "The Force Awakens" is how many women lived in that universe in all sorts of roles. Going back and watching the previous trilogies just hammered that home how few important roles women played; I quite agree that tons more could have been with them, Padme especially. But one thing that did come through loud and clear was that neither Padme nor Leia were content to sit back and let the men handle things without them. I was more than happy to showcase them, and Rey, kicking massive amounts of ass. :)
