Spinning on that dizzy edge

I have something of the same problem with my kids, and I think it can be indicative of smarter kids - they aren't as adept at the social cues and social niceties, so they don't make friends as easily. Even in a class of "highly capable" kids, my son had a hard (and possibly harder) time because there was so much competition.

I hope things get better for all of you. Remind him that he's a great kid and any friends he might buy aren't worth it. True friends can't be bought.
