I have a very messy kitchen right now, but it's as a result of much food prep. I boiled tortellini for the Emperor, shredded chicken and simmered it in Trader Joe's Curry Sauce, made some instant brown rice, served up the chicken + rice + cottage cheese (the curry sauce was pretty zingy) to me and my husband, then I made Alton Brown's gazpacho.

I'm geeked about the gazpacho, as I made it entirely with things I already had in the kitchen with no additional shopping required. That may not sound like much of an accomplishment, but considering it lists more than 10 ingredients, I'm counting it as a win for my garden and pantry: fresh (yellow and red) tomatoes and cucumbers from my garden, an onion from the fridge, peppers from a co-worker's garden, and all the rest in the fridge or cabinet. It's very pretty, and quite tasty.

:) That reminds me of the immortal words of a FOAF's baby sister, age 8:

FOAFBSA8: Have I ever eaten this before?

FOAF: No.

FOAFBSA8: I don't like it.

Or not.

That sounds amazing. (My husband does 99% of the cooking in our household, and it's all like alchemy to me. *_*)

I've never properly learned to cook (I can bake, though!), but I hate washing dishes less than he does, so he does the meal prep and I do the cleanup. *g* If it were the other way around, our meals would be much less interesting--not that they're generally ambitious--and the kitchen wouldn't be as clean as I'd like, so it works out.
