Date: 2012-09-11 03:16 pm (UTC)A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Ron Moore claimed he had a plan. We didn't care, because we had Helo and Starbuck and Apollo (and lots more Helo :D) and all the unmerry BSG crew to play with. I kinda miss those days (random stab puts my first mem'ed entry of yours at May of 2007) - at least the fic heyday, not so much with the head-asplodey OMG RON MOORE WTeverlovingF.
2. Associate you with something.
Bandom squee, vaginas, and gorgeous photography. Not simultaneously, though. :D
3. Tell you something I like about you.
Your joy for life and the way it manifests in ways like your love for your family and your hopeless affection for the bandom misfits. Your posts make me smile or think or both.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
When you posted pictures of yourself at work, your actual appearance differed from the Angelina Jolie userpic (which, DUH), and it made me feel like I was actually meeting you. Silly, huh?
5. Associate you with a character/pairing.
Helo, because you were a big part of BSG fandom and Helo love for me. :D
6. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
What is the most unlikely fandom you've ever found yourself in?
7. Tell you my favourite userpic of yours.
Choices are hard! Hm...
8. Tell you that you might post this in your own journal.
Totally optional, so there you go.

Date: 2012-09-11 03:44 pm (UTC)DUDE. Your SGA posts are PHENOMENAL. I still don't know how you wrote "Indelible" and didn't spontaneously combust/burn out afterward. It remains one of my favorite SGA pieces.
2. Associate you with something.
Brilliant hair. :D
3. Tell you something I like about you.
Your strength - life flings such crap at you, and you keep going, no matter what it costs you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
Your response to my comment on Break Down In the Shape of Things to Come made me so happy, in that I'd caught your Zhaan and Teyla references, and your appreciation at that.
5. Associate you with a character/pairing.
John and Rodney 4Ever! And Peter/Neal, too.
6. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
What got you into SGA?
7. Tell you my favourite userpic of yours.
When I see

It's up to you!

Date: 2012-09-25 10:48 pm (UTC)Actually, that's a funny story. I had a year or so before stopped attempting to watch SGA even though I *love* Sci-Fi passionately, because I just spent so much time rolling my eyes at it. Then, a dear fandom friend wrote something in SGA. She and I had spent years being one another's hand-holders and beta readers for everything we wrote, and when she asked me to look it over just for general story sturdiness, I agreed. I expected the story to be good. She isn't capable of a bad story. But I didn't expect how much I was going to adore her portrayal of John and Rodney. The story was Unidentified, by
I had no idea at the time that Indelible was going to happen, but it wouldn't have stopped me, I think. It was a hard, long fic to write, but I think it was a good story, and I don't regret the amount of effort I spent on it.
Thank you for this whole meme, by the way. I'm sorry I'm so tardy at answering it, but I wasn't in a good place when you originally replied. Even then, it made me smile, and I kept it in my inbox so I'd be able to come back and answer it properly when I was in a better place. I appreciate it even more, now.

Date: 2012-09-26 03:32 am (UTC)It is true that SGA left itself wide open for anyone else doing it better, and with such strong character archetypes and fabulous actors, who wouldn't want to play in that sandbox?
You are so welcome! No worries about delays; I completely understand about having an attack of real life. I hope you're doing better now, and I'm so glad that I could make you smile. *hugs*

Date: 2012-09-11 05:38 pm (UTC)I think it was because you were involved with the DW early beta stage, and I was a (lackadaisical, unfortunately) tester. Then you kept posting interesting stuff, about fic and cons and life and such.
2. Associate you with something.
Fun Jim Butcher stories!
3. Tell you something I like about you.
That you went through a lot of trouble to make it to the Hugh Laurie concert. I appreciate that kind of dedication. :)
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
I love your con stories, like bending over for Andee Frizzell.
5. Associate you with a character/pairing.
Harry Dresden.
6. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
So with your username, did you like the second Highlander movie, or is there some other reason for "ii"?
7. Tell you my favourite userpic of yours.
I totally love this one and the story that goes with it:

Only if you want to!

Date: 2012-09-12 03:12 am (UTC)And Highlander_II as my screenname - I do actually like the 2nd Highlander movie (the Director's Cut), but not really as part of the overall Highlander canon - unless it works out for RP purposes. =) How it became my screenname is probably somewhere in my journal, but I wrote a paper for a class in college (uni to folks outside the US) and used HL:II plot elements as an example of 'bad things that will happen' regarding the environment, the prof thought it was amusing, apparently, and brought it up several times over the next couple semesters, so when it came time to pick a username for our new ISP at home, i went with 'hghlnder2' - b/c we could only have so many letters then. It's kinda stuck since then. =)
(( and your img tag is borked ))

The late night panel at Dragon*Con, you giggling your face off, and how much fun everyone was having.
5. Associate you with a character/pairing.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say bandom. Lots of bandom.
6. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
Two things, because I'm a cheater:

7. Tell you my favourite userpic of yours.
