Fake Friday

I have tomorrow off, as I'll be attending Dragon*Con - woo-hoo! It will be my first time in Atlanta, but I'll probably see only a couple square blocks of the place. One day I'll convince my family to come with me to one of these destination cons, and we'll make an actual event of it.

So! I have yet to post my most awesome pictures from the Chicago con last weekend!



When I had him personalize this, he signed "We are one". If only, David, if only...

I also got the chance to grab a couple unofficial shots at the Karaoke Friday night.



Chris Heyerdahl is a party animal. He bopped along to the music, chatted with lots of fans, and yes, is VERY tall.



Robert Picardo is an amazingly funny and talented guy. A consummate class act.



Andee Frizzell is so damned animated and fun and a blast to listen to - I'd love to go drinking with this woman.

And one more thing... I saw a bottle from this vineyard at the store. I'd love to buy some for David Hewlett at a con, just to see him laugh. Joe Flanigan shouldn't be the only one getting alcohol. *Grin*

So excited! Now, for the worried countdown about remembering to pack everything...

I *love* Chris H! He is so awesome and soooo tall! but, OMG, I almost didn't recognize him w/o hair!

Picardo is awesome and Andee? How sweet and fun is she? At Gatecon, she had the volunteers 'bowing' across the table to autograph their shirts, b/c what else would a Wraith queen do? - it was wild! *g*

alas, in case you were looking for me -- i was not in the long, long, LONG line of people waiting to have Jim Butcher sign things. For various reasons - a) aforementioned long-ass line of doom and b) i have his auto several times already and it wasn't necessary. So, that would be why you didn't see me if you looked there.

I got to that line at least a half hour early and it was already huge and cut off. Then I attended his panel that evening about gender dynamics in stories, and he graciously agreed to sign books afterward to the small group (me included) that brought them.

Sorry that I missed you! Did you have a good time?

Yeah - I think I wandered past the line about 1/2 an hour before the signing started and it wound way back toward the elevators. We skipped that and went over to the Walk of Fame instead.

I did have a good time, despite missing Jim entirely. Though I did see Fred Hicks. =) And a few folks from Gatecon. *g* (( and a couple people I wish I hadn't seen, though - eh ))

But I got to chat with John de Lancie and Mark Sheppard and got to shake hands with Avery Brooks and Marc Singer. =) We had a ball being stealthy and fan-girly. =)

Hee! I chatted with John de Lancie and Marc Singer as well. I would have loved to have done the same with Mark Sheppard, but I saw him at Shore Leave a couple of years ago, and I'm still a little bit scared of him. He is whip smart and not afraid to take an ignorant fan down several pegs.

Mark Sheppard did that? Huh. Maybe he's tamed himself a little or maybe we didn't hit the right subjects. =) Dunno - my friend was more interested in him than I was. He was a nice guy for the few seconds I talked to him.

To be honest, I'm surprised I found anything at D*C - there were SO many people!
