Rodney McKay may be a genius, but his sister Jeannie Miller can solve his problems - with fingerpaints.
Notes: "McKay and Mrs. Miller" was one of my favorite episodes of Season 3 - hell, favorite episodes ever! - because it was the first time we got to meet Jeannie Miller, aka David Hewlett's real-life sister Kate Hewlett. Snarky, smart, completely used to puncturing her brother's oversized ego...what's not to love? When I met the actors at Shore Leave in 2008, it was immediately apparent that that was their relationship in real life as well.
When Creation announced that David and Kate would both be at the last Vancouver con, I knew I wanted to go, and that I wanted to show Kate some appreciation for her role in SGA. So here's the result! (More notes below.)

More Notes: It took me a lot of dithering over songs to pick one, because I wanted to avoid "Damn that woman is so smart she's sexy!" sentiments (admirable, but not really the flavor I was going for in this sibling vid) and "Perky Science Girl" music, seeing as Jeannie is a full-grown woman and a mother, and not a boppy teen.
The vid won a Creation gift certificate - yay! But in Creation's ongoing attempt to make my head explode by their complete lack of logic, they once again did not play my vid where it would have made sense, like right before Kate Hewlett's onstage appearance, nor did they announce it until I was out of the room, coincidentally lined up for a photo op with Kate and David. Luckily
mackenziesmomma was present and came running out to tell me the news. Then I was in my usual see-saw of "Yay I won! Boo the person I made it for didn't see it!"
But Then! I had an autograph with Kate, and launched into a brief rant about how disappointed I was that she didn't get to view the vid I made for her, when she interrupted me to say that she had been backstage and was surprised to see her face on the screen. (With bonus puzzlement on why she was suddenly right-handed, until she realized it was flipped.) Long story short: Kate Hewlett saw and liked my vid! Everything else was gravy. (Aside from the fact that the item I wanted to get with my winnings was sold out by that point on Sunday. *sigh*)
So, long story short: I'm four for four for winning (wow, that's a stutter!) the Creation vid contest, and Creation is similarly four for four for screwing it up. Go team go!
