I found out this week that there's an actual-factual movie filming here in town, starring Danny Glover and a surprising list of other big-name actors (Victor Garber! Anthony Edwards! Griffin Dunne!). It's called Food, "a modern political thriller that explores the complex world of Genetically Modified Food." That's certainly something that's right up my alley, both in subject matter and in making movies in general, so I submitted my name to the casting crew. I was informed today that I got picked as an extra!

I'm reporting late afternoon tomorrow to a site a couple of miles away from my house. I'm supposed to bring several "business casual or business professional" outfits to chose from, which will be a little wacky for me, considering that my workplace has been straight-up casual for almost a year now, not to mention that the crowd I'm supposed to be a part of is not typically pictured as dressing up that much. I'm hoping that I'll be able to pull together some ensembles that work for them. I'll probably want to wear some makeup and jewelry or something, too. Female gender performance is hard, yo!

I am grinning about this opportunity, even as I'm trying not to freak out about packing snacks and drinks and outfits and entertainment. A friend from work will be there as well, which makes me feel a lot better. I've always been jealous of you guys in Vancouver and other popular filming areas, getting to peek in on sets in action. Now I'll get to be a part of one!

Time for bed and sleep - I've got a lot of errands to conquer before my closeup tomorrow. ;)
