These eyes
Feb. 17th, 2009 12:58 pmA while back,
delilahbean pointed me to a blog called Little Four Eyes, a site founded to be a resource for parents whose kids needed or had glasses. I've been reading along for months now, but I've never really been tempted to comment or post there.
A recent post included a link to another blog's entry, Roots and Rings, where the author talks about how excited she is to be getting lasik and being able to see well for the first time.
The original L4E post went on to mention how she's set up an interview with Chelsea, the subject of the second blog, so parents of L4E can ask her "what it was like growing up with glasses, what vision therapy is like for her today, and any other questions we have" or "any questions you’d like to ask someone who has worn glasses since toddlerhood".
I was rather gobsmacked to read this. It never occurred to me in all my travails with the Emperor's vision problems that other parents would have little to no understanding of what was going on with their kids.
( The suckitude of my eyes: a brief history )
So yeah, for the unknown numbers of you out there that have never needed any kind of vision correction, feel free to ask me questions. Those of my spectacled brethren, feel free to chime in with your own stories.
(As an exercise for the reader, have fun picking out all the vision-related turns of phrase. I realized after three or four that pointing them out as unintended puns just proved the point of how basic sight is.)
