Sep. 21st, 2007 08:31 amYesterday had the soul of a Monday. My husband's car died at daycare, after dropping off the Emperor. Luckily a friend was able to get the car jumped, and they wrangled it back home. However, if this is going to be a big expensive hairy deal, we are most likely out a car, since our finances can't support a major repair. *grr*
As for me, I'm in the middle of a soul-crunching project at work. Last night the senior in charge asked me and the other programmer to stay late to test out our code. My part worked near-flawlessly (IMHO), while his kept bugging on the last record. Seeing as it was nearly 6 PM, and the husband sounded like he had his hands over-full with the Emperor, I asked if I could take off. The senior gave me a completely passive-aggressive answer that essentially translated to, "Yes, but you'll look bad if you do." So I stayed around until it became increasingly apparent that I could do nothing to help, and I couldn't even test the changes I'd made to my code because of the data. Finally at 6:45 PM I received a grudging OK to leave.
When I turned on the car, the song on the radio that greeted me had me laughing until I nearly cried: "Should I Stay or Should I Go?"
Today, it is Friday. Tonight, there will be booze. Oh yes, there will be booze.
