I avoided watching "Veronica Mars" when it was on last season, even after all the good buzz on the show AND Alyson Hannigan's guest appearances. It was on opposite another show I was watching, and I had too much on my plate to pick up another VCR juggling act, what with the Emperor's imminent arrival.

While perusing the library's online collection, I noticed that they had the first season of VM available on DVD, so I figured, what the heck, and put my name in the reserve list.

My bid came due at the end of December, so I picked up the series, only slightly worried that I'd be able to power through all the episodes in the two weeks of the check-out period. I watched the first disc of episodes, and I was almost immediately hooked. It has the level of writing from Buffy, with similar snappy repartee and kick-ass female lead. The actors in the ensemble are amazing, and have wonderful chemistry together. I'm glad I didn't watch during its freshman season, because it almost certainly would have been cancelled.

Spoilers if you haven't watched the show and want to later )

Jason Dohring isn't exceptionally handsome, or awesomely built, but somewhere along the line of the development of the character Logan, I became obsessed. I haven't had this bad of a crush on a celebrity since Ben Browder strutted around "Farscape" in some badass leather pants....sorry, lost for a moment there. *grin* I mean, seriously! I am way too old for this nonsense. Accelerated heartbeat, goofy grin, skin becoming sensitive in the damndest places, fantasies all over the place...I mean, the actor is married, 24, and a freaking Scientologist! But no, I have to laboring under a crush like some awestruck teen.

If this is my body's reaction to getting a normal amount of sleep and starting back up again with a hormone cycle, I'm almost tempted to go back to breastfeeding. (Shut UP, nipples, that's not what I meant.)

ARGH!
