So...tired...

Saturday, I was riding high in anticipation of the OK Go concert. I went out to run some errands, and just as I was pulling out to straighten my car in its parking spot, some jackhole backed into me. He must have been whizzing out with some velocity, as he whanged a basketball-sized dent in each of our bumpers. Considering I was creeping at one or two MPHs...yeah. I would be able to shrug it off more easily, except I rear-ended someone a month ago trying to merge into traffic. (Silly me thought that someone having pulled two car lengths ahead of the stop line at a curved turn lane would have, you know, GONE ALREADY, so I wasn't looking where I was going.) I haven't had a fucking car incident, let alone accident, in almost two decades, so to have 2 in a month feels particularly like Fate fucking with me and is probably going to play merry hell with my insurance.

The OK Go concert was fabulous. They put on a really good show, but there were some shenanigans going on, as they were listed on the schedule as starting at 9:30 PM, but then we found out at the door that there was an opening act and OK Go wouldn't actually be starting until 10:30 PM. ARGH. I certainly was bordering on tired by the time they started.

They played most of my favorite songs in their almost 2-hour set, with some fun visual effects on the projection screens and confetti cannons for their more amped-up songs. If I had planned better, I would have been down on the floor being an enthusiastic fan singing along with most of the words, but alas, I stayed in the staid balcony seating, and boogied and cheered sitting down. I couldn't get a good read on the crowd, but the floor full of college students seemed to be there for the popular hits and not for their lesser-known songs. It made me sigh and wish I could have cloned myself to fill the place with a higher intensity fannish energy.

Today I got up and drove the Emperor to a birthday party 3 hours away, hosted by a mom and good friend of mine who also has kids on the autism spectrum. He had a fantastic time and would still be there if he had his druthers. I wish they didn't live so far from us. Tomorrow will probably be a fatigued morning for both of us, but it was worth it.

And now, to bed! G'night.
