This morning started dark and early (Eastern time zone, at least on the border, means the sunrise is a bit delayed, but it stays lighter later in the evening). Between my wake-up time and arrival at the clinic I downed two bottles of water, because I had to arrive with a full bladder in order for them to do a belly sonogram. Then I had to fidget and wait in my skimpy fabric gown for news on the blob.

Finally someone came to tell us that we had a healthy four cell embryo waiting for us, and I shed a few happy tears. The insertion was fairly anticlimactic, just me trundling down the hallway with a blanket wrapped around me, then assuming the position (butt at the end of the gurney, feet up in stirrups). After some fiddling by the doctor and a lubed scanner on my belly, we were presented with the sonogram photo of the blob in its new home. I laid back for a short bit, then I got to pee (BLISS) and get dressed. We went back to the hotel and napped for a few hours before setting off to a late breakfast and home again.

I've been talking to the blob in my belly all day, encouraging those cells to hunker down and start their weirdly wonderful metamorphosis into a healthy baby. The next target date is August 12, when I have yet more blood drawn for a pregnancy test.

I feel so lucky to have made it this far, and to have had such a plethora of encouraging responses to my posts. You all have helped me so much; I truly can't thank you enough. I *HUGS* you all up! :D
