Sometimes I feel like I've been listening so hard to other people's conversations on DW and LJ, with or without actually commenting, that it comes as a shock when I realize I haven't posted anything here in a while.  "But I was just thinking about - oh.  Yeah.  That was so-an-so's journal.  But I thought I said...Nope, that was over there."

I've been spiking all over the place with bouts of crazy and/or temper.  Last Monday we were told that there will be a company-wide 4% paycut in lieu of layoffs.  Yay.  I mean, how do you respond to that without sounding like a total douchelord?  "Screw those other jobs - don't take my money, dammit!"  It doesn't help that the announced reason is because company financial projections are flat.  We're not actually losing any money, so in order to show a profit, they're going to...steal it from us?  Thanks.  I also can't help but grind my teeth that the people at the top of the corporate food chain haven't made any shows of support like "We'll take the greater part of the cut in order to cushion the blow for you guys!"  We're not even allowed to adjust our benefit withholdings.  I'm seriously kicking myself for some of my elections now.

But hey, I'm employed, the husband is employed (as long as he can restrain from going postal on his psychotically paranoid boss), and the Emperor is doing fine at daycare.  Coming home with copious bruises and scrapes from being an active four-year-old, and just broke his main pair of glasses (thank Zod I got the spare), true, but that's par for the course.  (The meltdown I had the other night while looking for the spare was kind of a wake-up call for how tightly strung I've been.)

I find myself in the throes of complete, full-bore (as in I'm sure people are bored by me talking about it) crush on Chris Pine.  It was the all the interviews that did it, dammit.  I can't resist a guy whose wit is as sparkling as his eyes.  NYARGH.  I'm way too old for this teenybopper "he's so DREAMY!" crap.  I'm also reaping a ton of enjoyment from <lj user="ontd_startrek">.  The level of enthusiasm there is infectious.

I can't decide if my idle thoughts about going to see a doctor before embarking on an actual exercise routine is a good idea or another procrastination ploy.  It also doesn't help that the Emperor has started waking up way early, which is the time I've previously found works best for my workouts.

My cousin is pregnant again with her fourth kid in under four years.  I sincerely hope it isn't my job to tell her that she's crazy, because the rest of the family sure seems to think it.  Meanwhile, my heart bleeds for her sister, who's been unsuccessfully trying to get pregnant for years.  I also can't help but think about how wide the gap is yawning between the Emperor and his potential sibling.  If I'd had my ducks in a row, I'd have been knocked up two months ago.  Now, I don't know if we'll even be trying by the time the Emperor's birthday rolls around in October.

Well, looky there.  A long post, which few of you will actually struggle all the way through.  Later.
