A strung-out game of Telephone

AT LAST! The minivan is on its way home, with all parts intact and four bonus gas cans (judging from the fact that there were five listed on the police report, they evidently kept at least one).
Things misreported: the minivan is dirty, in that the inside is covered with dog hair, napkins, popcorn...yeah. Pretty much the condition it was in when it was stolen, so that's a big false alarm there. Also, the cigarette burns were evidently just butts stubbed out in our non-smoking car (which, PITA to get rid of the smell, but recoverable), and there were some energy drink cans scattered around.
The funny part is, even with all the gas cans in back, the reason the minivan was stopped was that they RAN OUT OF GAS. On a hill, even, so there was actually enough gas left to get to a service station when the minivan leveled out.
I've had a couple of bad-phone-reception, can't-talk-while-driving conversations with my husband to confirm that everything seems fine. Now they have to deal with some ridiculous construction before they can even guess when they'll get back.
OY. Hell of a Friday. Hell of a WEEK. I have a feeling it's gonna get drunk out tonight.
ETA: Van is home! Getting quite the carwash outside courtesy of the localized monsoon that just opened up. I should get to bed, but I don't know if the dog will let me sleep as she panics about the weather.
