God bless the internet, and LJ in particular, making it easier than ever to stalkkeep up on your favorite authors...
rozk: When I finally got sucked into "Veronica Mars", I went browsing on Amazon to put the DVDs on my wishlist. Then I came across this book, and I just had to have it. I devoured the book when I got it, reflected a bit ruefully on how much time I've spent in front of the TV watching just about every offering listed in her book, and then mailed it to
resolute, who I knew would probably love it even more than I did. Before I knew it, Roz friended Me. Dude!
robinmckinley: Robin McKinley wrote two of the best YA (well, I first read them when I was YA) books EVER, "The Blue Sword" and "The Hero and the Crown". I pull these volumes off my shelf every year or so to re-read and marvel again at her talent.
tammypierce: Tamora Pierce. Kung-fu master of the YA series. Another author that I re-read on a regular basis. (Who didn't want to be Alanna or one of her cohorts? C'mon!)
wilwheaton: I admit, I first started following his blog out of Star Trek curiosity. His writing kept me coming back for more: a delightful mix of fanboy awe, parental wisdom, and blossoming confidence. (We'll always have "Hot Lava".) Then his recent post led me to...
matociquala: I had the delight of seeing Elizabeth Bear at Wiscon. For some reason, even though my company doesn't block LJ, it specifically prohibits her journal, so you know it's gotta be good. *Grin* And then she listed...
coffeeem (and more personal stuff at
morecoffeeem): Emma Bull wrote "War for the Oaks", a fabulous urban fantasy set in Minneapolis/St. Paul, among others. Perusing her profile (and then surfing through theirs like a Wiki timesuck victim), I also found
ellen_kushner,
deliasherman,
pameladean,
t_windling,
blackholly,
ellen_datlow,
naominovik,
marthawells...I have their books on my shelves, and now I can get more words from them. Do you know how much doom this spells for me?
jimbutcher: Dresden Files. *EEEEEE*. (Plus, he talks about writing in general.)
officialgaiman: *EEEEEEE*. I followed his journal a while back, but had to drop it because I would lose hours following all his links and thoughts and things. Fuck it, I'm back.
lkh_blogfeed: Because I like porn, fairies, porn, and vampires. There. I said it.
janeespenson: I would absolutely love to just hang out with her and listen to her stories, whether they be about Buffy, Firefly, BSG, or what she had for lunch.
Eek. After browsing and friending a lot of these today, I think I'm scared to look at my friends list. What's really awesome, though, is how many of these people list each other, like the neurons in my brain that associate with each other are replicated in RL.
I think I have to stop now, as my brain is full. Feel free to chime in with authors I've missed.
