Takes a licking, keeps on giggling
We are so lucky to have such an awesome dog. Case in point:
Lately, the Emperor has been throwing some out-of-proportion tantrums. “No, you can’t slam dance with the floor lamp. No, you can’t play in the toilet.” This morning, it was “No, you can’t open the door while Mommy’s busy getting dressed in here.” Cue the wailing. This went on for a couple of minutes, until I swear the dog took pity on us and starting licking the Emperor’s face, whereupon he dissolved into a fit of giggles. The licking and giggling continued until I was finished getting dressed.
In general, the dog is so patient with our little goofball. He’ll pull her ears and paws, lunge at her when she’s lying on the floor, pull her fur while trying to emulate petting her, and basically do all sorts of things that would cause most dogs to snap at the kid. She just patiently sits there, or trots into the next room. The best is when they’re actually playing together – he hides in his broken-down cardboard box, and she darts in and licks his face. You’ve never heard such infectious baby giggles. Or they’ll play crack the whip, where he tries to hang onto her hindquarters while she turns around and around, and most of the time, he’s having so much fun he doesn’t notice when he bumps his head on the ground after falling. We are insanely lucky that they get along so well.
Speaking of luck, Happy St. Patrick’s Day, all!
