Video thrilled the radio car

Bopping along to the radio on the way home today, I smiled to hear one of my favorite songs, "Laid", by James. As happens all too frequently to me nowadays, about two lines in I was struck by another vid idea: Farscape's John/Aeryn. The lyrics are a ridiculous match that had me giggling: "Dress me up in women's clothes / Messed around with gender roles" with clips from "Premiere", "Scratch 'n Sniff", and "Coup by Clam" ... "My therapist says not to see you no more / You're like a disease without any cure" with the shots of Dr. Zhaan from "Won't Get Fooled Again" and afflicted Aeryn in "DNA Mad Scientist".

WANT NEW COMPUTER THAT CAN VID. *sulk*

Have a great weekend, everybody!

Now you know how I felt before I started vidding. hehe

I was bugging the hell out of [livejournal.com profile] lithium_doll and another Farscape vidder named Dkev (Dangerous Minds Productions) with video ideas constantly. I finally got familiar enough with computers to try and jack up the RAM on Pip (she cam with only 128 MB) to a gig but then I about died since I thought I'd fubared it as it kept just flipping through the BIOS when I restarted. Thank god Mom called in a favor with a computer repairman she knew. Turned out Pip and I were able to stump a man with 14 years repair experience when he figured out what happened was that I had melted a portion of the mother board (and continued to run the computer [including running Photoshop]), possibly due to running it after our a/c died in the middle of a lovely (not!) Florida summer. I believe his exact words were: See this goo? That is not possible. *snicker*

Well to make a long story even longer. ;) He'd found me a motherboard that was compatible (took forever) and put the new RAM in and I was vidding. I didn't have a DVD player on Pip so I had to use episodes ripped from tv and burned onto disc, it wasn't until like a year or two later I was able to get an external DVD drive.

I started out with Premiere and I really didn't like it since Adobe products are such memory hogs and even with a gig, I was crashing the software or freezing things, so I started using Vegas when given the opportunity to get the software. After a month of trying to figure out how to even trim a bloody clip, I finally asked [livejournal.com profile] scorpy808 how to use the dang software and haven't looked back. ;) I know that a lot of vidders prefer Final Cut Pro, sadly I can't personally say if it's better than Vegas since they don't have a version that is compatible with Windows but I can say that even though Vegas isn't very intuitive it's much better for editing since I can manipulate things a whole hell of a lot easier. My laptop came with Ulead and I'm not too keen on it yet since it's timeline is similar to Premiere, I need to try playing with it more before I can say for sure if I like it.

If you ever do get the opportunity to start vidding email me and I'll be more than happy to get you started out. Oh, and sorry about the history lesson. *blush*
