Yeah, unfortunately, Creation has the rights to the Stargate franchise as far as conventions go. And, from what I understand, they have some strict and ridiculous 'rules' about where/when/how often the actors, etc can attend non-Creation events. It's ridiculous.
I can totally see Hewlett snubbing the rules! I'm rather disappointed we never managed to snag him for Gatecon though. :(
McGillion - he was rude to me every time I spoke to him at Gatecon - which was as infrequently as my volunteer duties required. I am *not* a fan. Mostly, he acted like he was as popular as Richard Dean Anderson and that he should be treated like him too. Seriously, dude? Get a life. You are a 2-bit actor and a PITA to work with.
RDA, OTOH, was an absolute delight to watch through the entire con in '08! I have never seen anyone have so much fun! He scared the shit out of us a couple times b/c he wanted to 'be like all the other kids (actors)', but we could see he was totally enjoying the experience. =)
