ballet postures
Date: 2009-04-18 01:35 am (UTC)I actually think modern ballet postures are a sign of laziness. its a challenge to hold your leg at a precise right angle, instead of 'as high as you can now stay there'. the older way was far more disciplined, the lack of drama WAS the drama. try it...or get someone else to try it. the moves also used to be more...romantic i guess. now they're just so "higher, harder, stonger" that the fluid beauty of it is not as evident. great for Rite of Spring but not so much for Cinderella or Swan Lake. The poetry of control is missing.
but that's just my novice fan interpretation of it. hope i didn't ruin anyone's day.
